more jesuitry? Or have we advanced to sophism or perhaps casuistry? You’re setting a trap, and I am disinclined to insert paw and trip it.
No, I'm simply asking for clarity, which apparently you either can't provide or are unwilling to.

Of course things such as threats and hate speech can often not go unfettered, however the current line has been drawn to also include things considered well outside of simple "unprotected hate speech".
what line are you referring to? who drew said line?...who decides what is protected and not protected? a privately owned platform should be able to impose any limits they wish, as long as they don't violate laws...if the platform you're participating on says no, we don't like that, why should you have any recourse, except to move to a more accomodating platform? if you can find one that will allow the kind of foulness that got you removed/ caused you to leave the last platform?
these aren't real life forums with soap boxes to orate from, these are private electronic chat rooms, which are privately owned...they owe none of us a fucking thing, not even the promise that the platform will be here tomorrow. follow their rules, or find another...

I don't disagree with the fact that private companies can do what they want to with their private forums, so long as they aren't breaking any laws. What was your point again?

There is no legal definition of hate speech any more than there is assault weapon.

It's just speech and weapon.

While hateful speech directed at someone's title 9 protections is pretty disgusting I'm sure we all can agree, I hope we also can agree how utterly important it is to protect the Right tell a police officer what we really think of him or her with hateful speech.

Assault Weapon does have a definition.

And I learned the hard way it's better not to be a smartass to cops and tell them what you really think.

That's not a legal definition though.

The "assault weapons ban of 1994" is actually named:

The Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act,

for example.

If you have a clean record, no warrants and aren't riding dirty I highly suggest driving by patrol cars and flipping them the bird, which is protected speech under the first Ammendment.

Which weapons do not assault people?
I consider “assault weapon” to be redundant. I also consider “defensive weapon” not to be an operational description, but a promise of restricted use that is not built into the weapon. Any weapon in operation, from fist to aircraft carrier to software weapons, projects power i. e. assails.

(Edit: I wondered about mines, since their operation is automated. I decided that, since they project damaging energy, they satisfy the definition of a weapon. Punji sticks are more problematic. I’m inclined to class them as fortification of the same sort as an electrified fence.)

Entirely defensive hardware falls imo into the domain of armor and fortification. Reactive armor is an interesting if narrow gray zone.

Sensor tech can also be defensive, though it is usually paired with a weapon in a weapon system, with the above reservation applying.

Less formally, an assault weapon is a firearm, typically a semiautomatic rifle or carbine, styled after (but generally not qualifying as) an assault rifle/carbine. I find it to be more of a subjective term, often used to recruit voter sentiment.

Actually the firearm most "typically" used for assault is a handgun by an overwhelmingly large margin and attempting to attribute that to a segment of the rifle category is recruiting voter sentiment. Excellent post.

Carbine is a rifle, derived from the French carabinier which translates to rifleman. It's a modern term to describe the parameter of barrels between the legal limit of 16" and the traditional 20" that does not dip into lower short barrel rifle permit territory.

The first is irrelevant.

The second is incorrect. Ten-and even six-inch A-4s are carbines.

A short-barreled rifle (SBR) is defined by the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA) as a shoulder-fired, rifled firearm, made from a rifle, with a barrel length of less than 16 inches or overall length of less than 26 inches, or a handgun fitted with a buttstock and a barrel shorter than 16 inches in length.

Did you hear that he said he could no longer afford the Starlink services he is providing the Ukraine to help fight Russian?
Then like a couple days later he says, never mind its ok, i can still pay for it..... I wonder what that was all about. Now Russia is interested in targeting its weapons to Outerspace to blow up the satellites' out there. What the hell are the aliens gonna think about this? Anyway, Musk is a a dirty slut and too busy sticking his dick into all the young women he can and popping out so many babies and twins and quadruplets, he is disgusting. He lets these women save his sperm in glass tubes so they can reproduce with him artificially who know how many fucking babies...the surrogates will carry them. he just really could care less about anything but himself and populating the planet with more of his kind so that they can eventually make it to another planet and take over the planet. Oh, nice inbreeding there, it runs in his family anyway, like his father is all into it.. . Elon likes to stay in the news like some drama queen. He is a bore anymore.
