Pffff if you gotta do that it aint a purple strain!! You won't need to with this strain. The calyx's don't turn purple but both bubba and the Black Affie phenos leaves turn almost black (got back to post #5 from me for a pic of black affie pheno).
edit: I just remembered in their description of the strain they say something about lowering temps to bring out the purps, that is just a grow trick folks use, some strains may go slightly purple fan leaves towards the end, those are the strains that really benefit from cold water flush and cooler temps, trust me you can run this will all your strains and you'll get purple. Know that the shorter, bushier ones will purple the most (black afghani phenos).

I took them down at 8 and a half weeks, They were under 1 400w MH for 1 month of veg from seed and 2 600w hps's for flower surrounded by 8 6500k 125w cfl's (there were other plants/strains growing with them that turned out great) kept at 77-78 during the day and 70 at night, I had them in a mix of 3 parts happy frog to 1 part fox farm ocean forest and finished them with GH Flora Nova. I checked with my 40x loupe the trichromes looked great almost all cloudy and an amber or two. The buds look smell and taste great just no potency, I could have just gotten really bad phenos not sure but I had several other strains growing right with them and they all turned out great. Even the ones I will not run again still produced decent buds, this was just my experience with this strain from the two females I got out of my 6 pack of Regs. Both females I grew out smelled just like the Bubble Gum x Kush they used, Perhaps the Black afghani pheno is the desirable one?

Thanks for the info man appreciate it, I'll be back in here when they're up to put some pictures. Royal Purple Kush was the first strain I ever smoked, and since then I'm only now around 10 years on that I've come across it again! I'll be keeping on the shelf when I get the Pheno I want though!!

This is where things get mixed up, I came across somewhere that stated the Bubba Kush in this cross is BG x Kush, but than I almost always see it being sold as Black Affie x Bubbakush.
If it is Bubblegum it aint from Serious Seeds I've grown out 4 fems from those and their very sativa. I don't get the bubblegum off it, I get an almost perfumey incense taste/smell off the keeper BA pheno. IF its got bubblegum its gotta be an indica, but I had a bubba pheno that grew just like an OG so that also makes me questions the BG x Kush lineage.

Seriously man I'm not trying to be a buzz kill, but the reason Emerald had to change the name of this strain is because there is a popular clone called Royal Purple Kush which (if memory serves) is a LV Purp Kush cross and I don't you were smoking Emeralds RPK 10 years ago.

ET uses real bubba for mastodon, rpk ,and grapefruit krush. The dishonesty on their part is in the lineage of their other strains. The Bubba 76 is really raspberry kush and they used zoolander's chem sis x nl5 x sour lemon larry for the Cali Wildfire AND the "OG" they used in their sour lemon og and lemon diesel. It's all good genetics still, just not tagged proper.

If thats the bubba dominant pheno I have no clue what pheno I got but that one looks great! Maybe I will pop the rest I have left just to see if their is a good one in there! Happy Growing!

That pic is black affiie... very short and squat, it's got some bubba in there for sure but this ones mostly black affie. The other 2 girls grew much more bubba like, vertical branching, stretchy, needed tyed up. The BA pheno never had to be staked at all.
