Emergency!!

The temperature of my reservoir has hit 84 this is catastrophic! I ordered a rez water chiller but it wont be here for a week, so I did an emergency rez change with cold water! My temp is now at 59 and rising though. I add another quarter of nutes and a few caps of hydrogen peroxide because I changed the rez and my ppm is at 100, is this too low for early veg? And when I first did the rez change my PH was roughly at 4 and rising I thought it fight settle in the 5s or 6s but no of course its back at 7.5 an hour later. This is day 4 of veg so will this effect my plants at all, somebody help please its my first grow and I am tweaking out

Screw the temperature of the water, you need to get the PH under control immediately. Otherwise you face possible nutrient lockout.

The H202 you want to use is 30%. Don't use the store bought 5% stuff. I use h202 randomly, adding a "squirt" every so often. Obviously you don't want to over do it. (I don't recommend doing this, but this is what I do)

Before we get to far into this discussion I need to ask a couple questions, don't take them as rude or snide, they are questions so that I can help you.

Do you know what your PH is supposed to be at? Ideal? Range?
Do you know what all of your temps are supposed to be at?
Do you know how to mix nutes and correct for PH changes?
Can you describe to me how you add nutrients to your water? Afterwards, I'll explain to you how I work my hydromagic and maybe it will help!

Sorry to ask such questions, but, I'm just gathering the info I need so that I can give you some good answers!

There is no exact single value for perfect temperature or perfect pH - all of these are expressed in optimal ranges. The best thing you can do is to keep your numbers stable without frequent or rapid shifts.

You're doing the opposite. Cannabis is a pretty hardy plant - it can survive a lot. But, yeah - your bouncing values will affect your plants.

p.s. What is your water source? You might want to look into RO water even if you have to buy it because that provides a more stable base to work with.

Ideal is 5.8, where Cal and Mag can be absorbed. Letting it wander from 5.5-6.1 is just fine. When correcting your PH, correct it with the range numbers. What I mean by that is, if your PH was at 5.3 and you wanted to bring it up, make your water mix or nutrient mix for 6.1, no higher. Adding 6.1 will gradually bring your 5.3 up into the 5.5-6.1 range. Just keep adding it till it hits 6.1 but remember, you need to know the trend of your PH like a stock chart, sometimes your PH will rise, sometimes it will fall. If you wake up and your PH is at 6.5, don't worry, but start adding 5.5 mix to slowly bring it down into that 5.5-6.1 range. I've learned that slow changes make for better stability.

Right. The point I tried to make is that while 5.8 might be perfect and 5.5-6.1 might be OK, the person who keeps it at 5.7 or 5.9 will generally have better results than the person who has it bounce from 5.5 to 6.1 every day.

Slow changes help. Larger volumes of water help too - that's why so many hydro setups have additional reservoirs.

I'm not saying to ignore numbers - just that it is hard to target the perfect value when you have a hard time keeping any number stable for long.

Wow thanks for the input guys I really appreciate it. And krondizzel that's awesome you asked a bunch of questions and actually want to help me out! Yes I knew my ph was supposed to be between 5.5 and 6, my water temp at about 68 to 70, my room temp between 75 and 79, and my ppm between 250 and 350 for early veg. I have added 1/4 amount of the recommended amount of floramicro and florabloom. I just pour it right into the rez. My PH has been about 7.5 since day 1 and ive added ph down twice (just a little)

I used to pour nutes directly into my rez and because of that I was constantly having PH problems. What I started doing is mixing up my nutes and water in a 5 gallon bucket, to the 4 gallon mark. That was my measuring cup. So after the desired nutes are added and mixed, check and change your PH to what you need it to be AND THEN add to your res.

This should help stabilize your PH. Hope this helps.

I know very little about hydro, but from what I understand, the res temp tends to be high early in veg because there is no canopy to block the light. Coudln't you just use frozen water bottles in the mean time or use less intense lights. Maybe try 18/6 if you are on 24/0 so the res has a little time to cool down . Also, if this is day 4 from seed, then the roots are probably still mainly feeding off your rockwool (If that is what you are using) rather than the res itself. Any pics of your setup, or more info about it? Hope something in here helps.

Placement of the res is a factor too. Inside tent will be much warmer than outside. If your res is restricted inside of a tent you will need to reduce the room temperature to bring the water temp down. You can use ice bottles but you'll need to find a way to keep your environment pretty consistent. Air temp, water temp, water PH, etc. Ice bottles are a hassle, they work, but it's a hassle for sure.

lol seriously I wont man im kind of a man with a million questions, but seriously I appreciate the responses most of the time I get halfassed short responses if I get any responses at all. Newbs are probably annoying but im tryn to learn so thanks dude that's what im going to start doing ill let you know soon if it helps out!

That's key. If your willing to learn.. I'm willing to teach. The annoying noobs are the ones that ask you questions and then argue with you. If you disagree with one of my answers or posts, do your homework and if you find out I'm wrong, call me on it... but better have a good source and reference because I work the same way. If I have doubt, I'll respectfully just look it up and then if you are wrong and I have the sources to prove it... Well.. Just gotta deal with it. I think it's the disrespectful noobs that piss me off most. I'm down to help but if people flick me shit, I'm not going to go out of my way to help them.

I'm sure you can relate. Welcome to rollitup.

You guys have already posted more times since the time ive written my last response lololol im pretty :eyesmoke: It will probably work now but yesterday and the day before I put in two gallons of milk that had frozen water in them in the rez and the rez had melted it close to instantly. Its already up to about 65 degrees so ill definitly put a few frozen bottles in there starting in a few days. And dude I am more than willing to learn, as cheesy as this sounds over the internet I feel like I have a calling for growing weed!

Well, I'm about a six pack in and I'm smoking on some bomb purple. Over time, you learn to operate faded. Part of the gig.

So, where is that reservior setup at? is it in a cool area or is under lighting? a picture would really help.

kron, whats the largest harvest youve gotten off one single plant, from indoor, in soil? If u dont mind me asking :)

My favorite question:

Soil with 600w lights = 6oz
Soil with 1000w lights = 7oz
Hydro with 1000w lights = 22oz

Average:

Soil: 4oz
Hydro: 10oz

Last yield:

Biggest: 18oz
Smallest 12oz
