rock and roll is dead name one new rock group that's good and don't bring up the old classic's
By the way

I don't consider KoRn, Metallica, System of a Down, Rage against the Machine, Fear Factory, Mudvayne, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, ACDC and I dont know who else, to be old classics. I mean they are all still writing new material.........

Then there's Face 2 Face, Millencollin, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Motorhead, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool, U2 (if you're in to them) Pearl Jam, Iron Maiden, Neil Young, In Flames, Rammstein, Slipknot, Cradle of Filth, Dream Theater, Hell even Ozzy!! They are all still playing, and the majority of these are still writing aswell!

And all with better quality music. A million fold compared with fucking Lil' Wayne or any of the emo shit that's out today, My Chemical Romance and similar bands. Fucking crap!

Rock is not dead! These aren't classic either, not yet. Some will be soon. But they are still very strong contenders in today's rock scene!

Well, like anyone, I listen to my bands, so anything new that comes up goes over my head, I don't know of any new rock bands, but I don't know of any new Rap acts, or country bands or any other genre of music for that matter. I listen to what I listen to. I guess it's because I have kinda given up on today's music scene, because as I have said, it quite simply sucks.

Name me some new Rappers, that are actually good you know, quality. Along the line's of Biggie, 2pac, Eminem, Dre, Wu Tang. None of this poppy stuff! It's hard aswell right? It's because the music scene in general, meaning across the board, has turned poppy and money orientated. It really is sad.................

I still don't consider these bands classic yet, either.
For me classic means, the band is finished, it WAS a band. These guy's are all current musician's writing songs.

Ok, cool you got five (relatively unknown)! I will check these guy's out aswell, as I am also a fan of Rap!
One problem with rap is that sometimes groups or artists can never get away from that "underground" status that so many have heard of. Which sucks!

I understand what you meant in your comment about rock being dead. But I think that as long as there are lovers of it, it wont be going anywhere. Music in general is pretty fucking bad at the moment though, Rap and Rock included. I hope it get's better again.

But as long as my favourites are still writing and even when they are not I will be listening.

Leave me alone
Don't want your promises no more
'Cause rock and roll
Is my religion and my law
Won't ever change,
May think it's strange
You can't kill rock 'n roll
It's here to stay

Anytime a genre goes mainstream it ends up like Icarus flying to close to the sun. That's where rap is right now, with auto-tune rays melting the wax of actual skill. Rap is where Country was when Waylon did "Are you sure Hank done it this way. There is always good rock out there and it's usually indy (The status, not the "genre".). Rock has been a mainstay in popular music since the '50s, and is easily the largest genre in music, encompassing everything from pure Rock and Roll to Punk, to Death Metal...

Rock and Roll will never die.

man why are threads like this even created al lit does is bring arguing and shit cuz every one has theri own opinions on what they think, every one likes certain things more then others, so who cares. this thread is turning into the youtube comment section where every one starts talking shit about who is the best and what not and when other say it is not then they get but hurt. I personly like Em and all his music, i can relate to almost all of it and yes Em is Hip hop and one of the most purest forms of it, i also like a bunch of other rap and hip hop and all other types of music.
and yes hip hip is dying cuz all the bullshit that is out right now like lil wayne, gucci and all the other bullshit rappers, but guess what rock is to almost all music is going to shit.

Fact of the matter is all the new music sucks only because of the record labels controlling what's being played

Just some suggestions of hip hop that you ought to listen to:

People Under the Stairs: Start with the OST album, listen to acid raindrops. You'll fall in love instantly. Everything these guys do is amazing. Be sure to play at a LOUD volume.
Gangstarr: Fucking nuts, Guru died on 420 too. Listen to mass appeal and you'll fall in love.
The Roots: Listen to why(what's goin on) and tell me you don't love them.
Black star: Talib Kweli and Mos Def's collaboration, definition is the most poppy song, but still amazing.
Hieroglyphics: If you like Del (The guy who rapped on Clint Eastwood by the Gorillaz) then you'll love his band. Battle of the Shadow is the song that got me into them, Classic is their most famous song I think.

That's just scrappin the surface of hip hop. If you notice, most of these bands are old school, but that's my preference. If you are ridiculously high and/or drunk listen to Mac Dre, no one will sound better.

Nothing wrong with a bit of friendly discussion though man, noone was fighting :) All peace and love here!!!
And I agree with you, it's not just rock and rap, it is music in general. It's in a really bad place at the moment for sure......

Brother! I don't even know what the fucking radio is anymore, even the so called "rock" station's are fucking horrible, playing things like coldplay and Oasis or My Chemical Romance and Fallout Boy (or whatever their name is) Aaaaaaarrrrghhhhh!!!!!

Even on paid cable TV you have MT fucking V which is shit aswell. VH1 every now and then plays some good stuff.

But I hear you man, radio = mainstream and mainstream = poop and fabricated poop at that!

I have faith that things will calm down a bit. Unfortunately the industry is what controls. So it kinda depends on the trends and general consensus, so maybe we are just all fucked anyway! Hahaha
