Epsom salt? help using it.

hey guys i recently got some epson salt because i have alot of defficiancys and one of them is magnesium.

i have been looking up how to apply it. and i have read mixed reviews. some people say its bad for you soil if you water it in with you nutes and some people are saying its bad for foilar spraying.

i no how to apply it by watering. 1/2 tbs to a gallon.
but how much do you ad for a foilar, seeing as i only have a small sprayer, would i only need about 1/4 or even less?

please let me no which way is the best to do. i prefer the sound of watering it in because it sounds easier haha. but which way is the best without causeing my plants any problems. and how much do i add.

i wouldn't recommend foilar feeding with epsom salt. You could but prolly a 1/4 tsp per gal spolution. I think you would start seeing salt build up when it dries.

so do you reckon i should just add the 1 tablespoon of epsom salt to a gallon of water, and water evenly across my 4 plants. im also going to have my nutes mixed with it. is that okay? and im flushing before i do any of this as i have nute burn and various other symptons.

do you think it would be okay to flush then wait about 30 mins and then add my nutes and epsom salt?

dude use it only for normal watering, dont use it straight onto leaves, total waste of time.

its just i read up in a lot of places that it works faster to foilar feed them wwith epsom salt in luke warm water. im not gonna do that anyway. im just gonna feed straight in the water. but would it be okay to do all of this straight after a flush?

ok here's my 2 pence worth of info !

ive used epsom salts and found no problems wot so ever! im now in my 3rd week of flowering and altough i dont have many problems with defiencys i find it works well

i use it when feeding the plants with nutes - mix up all my nutes and shake them alot in containers then add to my 1 gallon watering can - jus add 1tb spoon of epsom saltes when ur feeding ur girls but make sure u have shook it up and its all mixed in so it can dissolve into ur wwatering medium - u shud be fine after that - forget foliar feeding! jus put the salts into ur mix of 1gal when feeding ur plants - if all else fails - flush ur ladies with ph'd water - between 6.0 and 6.5 - then this will get rid of the salt build up - also if u can look for some 'grandma's mollasses' there only about $6 a bottle and they will feed the micro nutrients in ur soil this will help with variousn different def's

If i was you i would add dolomite lime to your soild to keep the ph from reaching 7 plus it adds magnesium. To use magnesium sulfate though add 2 teaspoons per gallon of warm water. For the fastes results though use a 2 percent solution of epsom salts. But if I was you i would just get a complete fertilizer that has magnesium in it. Alot easier.

hey guys i just flushed all of my girls. they needed it because of nute burn. took me fucking agies, and my back is killing me.
well anyway, im just gonna wait till tomorrow and add some nutes and epson salt in my one gallon watering can. by then i think it will be dry enough for them to soak it up. i dont want to leave them to long without nutes. i think they should be fine though.

if the flush and epson ssalt dont work. il let you guys no.

yeah flushing is a back breaking job.... you got it though. I also have read that dolomite is rally good but takes 6 months to marry in the soil. So potted plants kinda of a waste. Source the Bible amongst other agriculture professors published pages on dolomite lime calcium etc... Epsom is the way to get in now, as you did---foliar feed does work too. I had a sour Diesel that I t-planted to quick during cloning and needed some metal to get kicking again so I foliage fed and with results. BTW.
Becaredful with that salt though---great to use 1-1 @ flush but can build up on you with adding to H20 everytime.

My feeding routine would be: Fox Farm's Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Super Thrive from Vitamin Institute for vitamin's and hormones.
The only use I have for "Epsom Salts" is cleaning my bong, and it's most excellent for that. Good luck & good grow.......BB

yeah man took me agies to flush my girls. first time ever doing it too. this morning when i got up the plants looked alot better. really perked up. im just hoping the soil will be dry enough tonight so they will soak up the nutes and epsom salt. do you think it will be okay to do it tonight? i was thinking it might still run right through. i really want to get some food in there for them because at the moment they have nothing. so yeah do you think it will be cool to add their food tonight. cheers :)

I think I've read in Skunk Magazine that epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) can cause problems with soil microbes. Possibly being one of those things that can potentially hyper-dehydrate them.
However, I use Huvega by Botanicare which is OMRI listed, derived from magnesium sulfate and has a concentration of 1% magnesium.
The smallest bottles of this stuff are fairly cheap and last long enough if you only have a few plants.

Bad advice, most store nutrients are missing Mg, S, and Ca for a reason...mixing them with other nutes causes lockouts/fluctuations. They should be given in SEPERATE waterings for the best result.

Heres what you do.

Water the regular way with 1tbsp per gallon of MOLASSES for a Ca or Mg problem(keep in mind the potassium levels in Molasses)

Foliar feed with Epsom salts at 1tbsp per gallon for a Mg or S problem.


If any residue shows after the foliar spray dries just spray again with tap/rainwater, the plants will suck up the extra residue or it'll be washed off.
