Nope, Tues will be 28 days. I switch to full bloom (1-4-5) at day 42. On this subject though, I have added 15ml of Botanicare Hydroplex per 15 gallons, which is a bloom and oil enhancer my last 2 waterings. It’s best used between weeks 3-6. I own it, but generally don’t like using it as most of my crops reacted poorly to it. I applied it on the low side, we’ll see........

Also, so you know, I mentioned I’m having some oral surgery coming up in the next few weeks, which will probably put me out of commission for a while. I’ll have to go into the hospital and be knocked totally out for the procedure, while they do their thing. It’s not an everyday doctors office visit or a simple deal for sure. I expect not to be posting for at least 1-2 weeks during my recovery, and when I come back on will entirely depend on how I’m feeling. I’ll post when I’m about to sign off, to let you all know.

I’m not gone yet, it will be a few weeks I’m thinking as there’s lots to work out between Dr’s, oral surgeon, hospital, etc. I have a complete physical on Wednesday, that will determine a lot.

Ethos states this strain can mold up if conditions are kept too moist so the dehumidifier is constantly on set to 60%. I‘ll move lower as things progress. Getting larger by the day right now. Just watch these explode over the next 2 weeks!

Oral surgery nurse just let me know they are 3 months out for surgery scheduling, as the hospital only allows them 1 day a month. lol WOW I wish the Dr. would have said something.

Lets hope I still have a jaw and some teeth by then.

So this crop will be fine, it will impact the next one.

@SSHZ (see your image attached)
What would you recommend be done about the tiny popcorn buds deep under the foliage? Do you remove these? I'm talking about the ones that are shaded, no matter how much you defoliate. In your experience, do the plants produce better buds at the top when these lower ones are removed, or is the plant unaffected whether they are left or not? I've found that during harvest, the lower buds are lacking and I end up just keeping the nice fat top buds and tossing the small ones out.

if plants are kept short enough, and enough leafage is removed, you can get the lower stuff to be ready at harvest time. It’s a delicate balance…….you can always harvest what’s ready and continue flowering until the lower stuff is done too. Or be sure enough leafage is removed so light does get down to the lower stuff. My most successful harvests are when I feel I remove too many leaves, but the plants always bounce back.

This defoliation stuff is important, but having the right strain is just as important. Most heavy yielders tend to come back from defoliations rather easy, as they normally grow quick. Other strains may lag behind, and struggle if too much is removed. You have to know your strain, or at least do the research to know how they grow.

Today is a month into flowering for me, I continue to remove some leaves daily but would like to reach deeper in to get at the larger, lower stuff. At least the first 2 rows on each side. I should also mention removing sun leaves towards the end of flowering, when buds are still expanding and hardening up. They don’t need to stay on the plant, this might help some too.

After a deep watering this morning, I‘m back on the “pull everything out” train and do another defoliation. I think Thursday they are calling for rain here and it might be a good day to do it. As you know, I’ve been back and forth about it, mainly because its a lot of work but for sure, it should be done. The room will only benefit from it. Stay tuned………

@SSHZ , growrooms are looking great! This might be the most defoliation ive seen you do. i started pulling leaves on the last grow, to let the bud site receive some light and it does make a diffrence. Zsweet Inzanity is making a comeback? going to have to catch her.
but for now i'm just going to sit in the back of the bus and enjoy this ride.
thanks for the ride!

Johnny Rocket remembers my grows under HPS, where I never defoliated. For the last 2 years and 4 months I've been growing under Gavita LED's, and have been defoliating ever since the change. I never understood the benefit, that's clear. I'm now a big fan, as the benefits far outway the negatives. Another thing I never talk about is bending sun leaves, rather than removing them. You can just tuck the leaves underneath other growth, which I also do on a limited basis depending on whether or not I want to remove them or not. Bending is another alternative that can help.

Yes, Ethos announced Zsweet Inzanity is making a comeback as a RBX (I guess that means a reversed back-cross) but is not released yet. Here's the info........past followers know I absolutely loved this strain and was heart broken when I found out I couldn't get any more seeds of it. I searched high and low, it sold out and that was the end of it. I'll do the Barney's Runtz hybrid next which I mentioned earlier, then this one should be available.

ZWEET INZANITY RBX
ZWEET INZANITY* #22 x DURBAN POISON**
*Zweet Inzanity is Durban Poison x (Gorilla Glue #4 x Citral Skunk) ** The Colorado Cut

Better prepare yourself......... I'm in total defoliation mood. Tomorrows the day, even after receiving a flu shot, pneumonia shot and one other booster today. I may not feel great tomorrow, but tomorrow IS the day. I'll take some before and after pics, for sure.

So my goals will be #1) make it easier to water, as I'm having to move a lot of branches to get to the back of each side of the room and #2) open up the centers of each plant to make it easier for light to pass downward to lower branches with buds. But I don't want to remove so much that it impacts final bud size OR stress the plants too much. I'm in the middle of watering now, so they'll be well saturated for tomorrow morning. I'm ready!

After finishing watering, I also want to mention a VERY interesting evergreen/pine/minty smell all over my arms. It has my nose hairs twitching and twanging. This is getting interesting.......

Day 29, they really stopped getting taller maybe 4-6 days ago. A few in the back are taller, mainly because they get less light back there.

Boy, I feel like shit tonight. All kind of vaccines flowering thru my bloodstream. My wife asked me if I was going to be up for tomorrow’s defoliation, I said if I feel up to it. if I really feel crappy, I’ll do half the room on Thursday and the other half on Friday. But I’d really like to be done with it for good.

I came across my Zsweet Inzanity grow back in May, 2018. I’ll link everyone back to the grow for a couple of reasons- to highlight the strain, to show everyone how I was growing in another room from 2000- 2019 under 2 HPS and you’ll see my method of growing hasn’t really changed much (other then the LED’s and topping/defoliating). The strain now has some different genetics, specifically the old old also had “Rainmaker” as part of the mix. Now that seems to be gone?

So, you’ll see I used to only top plants that were taller in veg, and leave the rest to grow naturally. And make sure you check out ALL those leaves everywhere. Lol

"a flu shot, pneumonia shot and one other booster today."
This may be a bit off topic...but....3 shots...at once!?!?!? Your body will be so stressed you may pop a seed and your bud might reduce in size. Check to see if your tip is cupping due to overwatering and make sure to tell your wife its not due to toxicity. Dude...keep the stress on your plants and not your body.

Well, last night was a doosey………..feeling crappy right now, waiting for the advil to kick in. Then I’ll start. Yup, 3 shots and the nurse asked do I want them all in 1 arm or split between arms. Lol Dr. said it wasn’t an issue getting all 3 at a time. At 65 years old and over, they up the dose of the flu shot so I‘m pretty sure thats the culprit. It has to do with the fact as your body ages, it doesn’t produce antibodies as efficiently so they increase dose size to create a stronger reaction.

I grew like that for years and years, having to stake everything every time. Bottom line is the 40% increase in yield, every crop. In the end, that’s the only thing that matters. Pics up at 11am when I start………
