Ever seen leaves do this? I really could use some advice.

Update. Been several days since I flushed, the problem has gone up anoth er set of fan leaves higher. Gave her some plain water as the pot was dryin out some. Heres some pix from today, I have no idea what to do for her. Right at 2 weeks into flowering now.

Lil help please?
It could stand a hair cut, I would just trim the largest fan leaves to allow better light coverage on the smaller bud sites, its trying to keep the largest fan leaves alive and taking N from them for the rest of the plant at the same time. Just remove those huge ones and keep letting the soil have good dry time and start the nutes again lightly. Stop flushing as this is compacting the soil more and more each time and it looks fine to me, I grow lot of WW and would have removed those huge fan leaves a while back and you would have never spotted this in first place it was just cupping a bit and may snap out of it fine if you just trim a couple of the huge ones with most yellow and see if the rest bounces back stronger as it does not have the other ones to support.NOrmally i say dont remove trim but yours has plenty of good foliage and it looks like it wants to shed the huge ones now anyway

ffs man stop trying to make a big problem out of nothing, its simple... get a humidifier or/and move your light further away, leaf cupping is due to a lack of moisture in the environment or high heat

Im not tryin to make a big problem, im just tryin to get my plant fixed up. Im flowering, why do I want more humidity? I have a taller plant thats even closer to the light, its leaves dont do that. nor is there a brown spot on the entire plant.

Da420Monkey Do you mean a fan actually blowing on the plants themselves? The tent has decent airflow. But I can try some direct air if that might help.

Thanks Super2200 I will likely do that.

Thanks Congoz. Ive had difficulty finding pictures of a similar problem so I could nail it down.

Iamstoned I am starting to see the newer growth fan leaves beginning to yellow. Perhaps after the flush its gettin hungry now. still not sure if I should feed while the soil is wet from yesterday tho.

yeah man ,just use a lil osilating fan in there for a few hours each day will make a world of differance, i put mine on for for 5 ,6 hours of the light period, most of the leaves are nice and healthy now, heat pockets kill just remember that!

you should definitly feed when the soil is still wet from flushing... thats when the plant uptakes the nutes!!!

feeding when the soil is dry will cause ph probs, salt buildup, and a host of other probs.

when a plant sesnses the root zone is saturated with water, it goes to sleep so to speak untill the next light period begins.
then it begins to uptake moisture only. after awhile, it will begin to uptake nutes.

this is because in nature (where cannabis comes from) rainwater releases nutes in the soil.
its in the plants genetic makeup to absorb as much h20 as it can, because mother nature does not water at regular intervals.then, after it is saturated with water, it will begin to feed.
this is a natural response, to keep the ppm of dissolved nutes equal on either side of the root barrier.
if the plant has less moisture than the soil, it will absorb water only, to balance the ppm gradient.
if the plant has more h20 and a lower ppm than the soil, the soil will literally wick the water right out of the plant, to balance the ppm gradient.
this is what causes burning. its why the tips dry out first.....
defficencies show in older leaves first, and progress towards new growth.
toxicity is usually apparent on older leaves first as well. but toxicity will killl your plant a helluva lot faster than a def...

Ive spent hours and hours reading, never knew you werent supposed to feed with dry soil. Very helpful info, and I thank you. +rep.

If you would, please educate me on the best way to do the feeding then. My plants at this point are dry every other day. I have been watering with ph 6.5 water that sits at least 24 hrs. Then on feeding days, I gave the nutrient mixes.

So on a feeding day I should water first then feed? How much water first? And how long to wait after that to feed, or another method alltogether?

Thanks again!

i flush, everytime i water

what??? seriously I do.
just not as thoroughly as I would if i was flushing at the end of the flower cycle.
this means when you water, you water untill you have mostly clear runoff.
your plants shouldnt need anything but light for 5-7 days after that.
if you fuckup and try feeding or watering during that stage after a flush/watering it leaves the soil saturated with moisture that is not moving
this moisture then becomes anaerobic, that is, all of the dissolved oxygen it the water is used up by either the plant, or microrganisms (mainly bacteria) in the soil.
this standing anaerobic water is an almost perfect medium for fungus to thrive, so your roots rot.
the standing anaerobic water also will release and absorb nutes (salts) from the soil, which means a very high ppm of dissolved solids... which in turn will wick moisture out of the plant to balance the ppm gradient, as i stated before.
so you can see that finding the optimum time to feed is more of a fine art than simply following the directions on the bottle.
i typically feed 5 days after a watering. and when i feed (mebbe you guessed it) i pour untill i have runoff. that way i know the nutes are going through all of the soil and are not just piling up in the upper level of the pot. this will also encourage the roots to grow, as nutes are depleted in one part of the soil, adventageous roots will spread to the rest of the pot.
rootbound plants are a myth.
rootbound = improperly fed plant. the plant doesnt get enough nutes, so the roots grow, looking for more nutes in the soil. sometimes they will even push a plant right out of the container! this tight rootball prevents the flow of water through the medium... which makes the water anaerobic.... you starting to see a pattern yet?
the type/ strength of the feeding depends on what stage of growth im @.
i use a weak 5-1-1 for veg, and 10-20-10 for flowering, sometimes, and very rarely, i will feed 20-20-20 if it looks like i have some heavy defs going on.
i also use heavily ammended soil (aka hotsoil) to pretty much keep the fertilizing to a minimum.
with soil, that is the key to success. minimal nutes.... its too hard to control heavy feeding... ph issues, ppm issues, it gets complicated rapidly. K.I.S.S.

over fertilizing/feeding is probably the most common mistake i see on here, besides over watering.

on that note its good to water twice sometimes, some fresh water slowly to wet the soil but not enough to fully water the plant, after 30 mins or so you can feed lightly, I totally agree with the runoff when watering suggestion to keep salts from building up. Imagine your feeding your kids some 10-10-10 and as usual they only eat the fries and dont eat the burger so lets imaging they ate 4-6-10 so there will be leftovers and if you DONT allow some runoff and feed another 10-10-10 you are actually adding this to the remaining 6-4-0 that was eaten previously. This will keep getting further and futher out of whack. By allowing some good runoff until showing clear there is probably no need to check PH as it will not get out of whack due to leftover nutes. YOu can be sure you are keeping the nutes level and if they dont absorb it all thats fine becuase you are allowing runoff. This is much better than a total flush which eventually packs your soil if you dont have extra perlite in your soil. If not every watering at least every other watering you should allow some runoff. Keep us updated man good luck !!

heres an update, several days later her pot it just now starting to get dry. I'll give her some light nutes tomm after I water her some and let her sit. I trimmed most of her dying decaying fan leaves per suggestion. Also been opening the tent and running a box fan lightly on them for 6 hrs aday, and leaving the intake and exhaust fans on at nite. Might cut her yield but at least she will live. I flushed my other two plants today when I watered them untill the runoff was clear.

Heres a couple new pix of the widow.

Thanks again for all your help folks! :blsmoke:

shes looking pretty good now. i think i may have the same problem as you do but worst, and im not sure what to do with her. add nuts or flush, same spot you were put in so i know how you feel. but take a look if would like and let me know what you think.

Hmm mine was a lot bigger when she developed probs. The edges of my leaves didnt turn yellow like I see in yours before they got burnt. I dont know what to tell ya. Maybe start a thread and ask the pros on that one. Or post more info here like age, soil, nutes etc..
