I thought Trump did such a good deal with Nafta 2.0 that they will be looking for workers.
There are several companies working on humanoid robots that look pretty good now, one wonders what they will be like in ten years. Much of automotive assembly is automated now and these can replace even more of the human workers. The controlled environment, repetitive work and even limited mobility means they could have a power cord hanging out of their asses and be plugged in full time with a limited work area, no batteries required. AI replaces the office workers and even much of the management and AI controlled robots replace the people on the production floor. The parts and are made in low-cost labor markets in Asia and that process is being automated too. The more automation and less labor in product manufacture means onshoring production as the advantages of cheap labor are lost. It also means concentrating more wealth into the hands of those who can afford the machines. Pay a person $100K to do a job or buy a robot to do it for 2 or 300K, will be the future choice many will have to make.

House GOP in ‘Godfather II stage’ of internal turmoil, says Republican lawmaker

One unnamed House Republican told Semafor compared the state of the GOP caucus to “The Godfather” movies: "The whole family kills each other—I think we're close to that right now. We are in maybe the Godfather two stage." Congresswoman Ilhan Omar joins Chris Hayes to discuss.

Let the flames of the GOP ingulf itself.....

BREAKING: MAGA Rep. Matt Gaetz ignites a Republican civil war on the floor of Congress by calling to block all spending bills unless Hunter Biden is subpoenaed and President Biden is impeached on fake charges.

And he wasn't done there. This is truly insane — and nightmare news for Republicans... Gaetz threatened that if his unhinged demands are not met, he and his far-right cronies will initiate a "motion to vacate the chair" which means removing Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House.

In essence, they intend to hold the government hostage to push through an investigation that will lead nowhere and an impeachment that has no foundation in reality.

Democrats control the Senate so there is no chance of Biden being removed from office. More importantly, there is no legitimate reason to impeach him. Republicans are relying on vague accusations of "corruption."

The American people will see that there is no evidence and no reason to impeach and will once again realize that Republicans are wasting time and money to score cheap political points.

This is going to backfire in spectacular fashion.
Someday, Matt’s mouth-checks are gonna come due

idk bout her district, but that is what i heard bout the votes though...she just narrowly made it....think the next time around she won't be though jmo
I’d hesitate to call her voters ‘trash’…I understand ‘white trash’ in the GA vernacular (can’t take the GA out of the boy), and that’s a different crew. I know some, I’m related to some…I disagree w/ them vehemently, all the time, and they don’t have the ‘base redneck tropes’ active. Doesn’t mean they’re flexible, it means they’re indoctrinated. Over decades. Ministers. Family members. Teammates. Bosses. By the mid-80s, the traditional-values tribes had been cut off from the mainstream of US conversation & culture.

This was one of the goals of the Powell memo: to subvert & control the conversation about ‘what is good for America’. The methods may not look like brainwashing, but the results speak for themselves. One clue to the brainwashed is simple: they never - *never* - question what they’re told by the people they *do* listen to. “People are saying”, and that’s enough, that’s code-speak: it allows them to assume all their MAGA fantasies are true by dismissing *everything* else as [incoherent] horseshit put up by those crazed but somehow masterfully capable & unstoppable commie demons, the democrats

It's a war mentality, us and them and it has been programmed into them on the backs of their character flaws. The divide isn't so much red vs blue state, it's urban vs rural and it's not just in America either.

It was the 90s that ruined it for me. Suddenly bolt-on front ends became accessible, then popular.
They don’t move right. And now they’re everywhere. And not only on women.
Are you talking about those foam formed cups? Yeah, boring when they all look identical.

Boebert calls backlash, vape incident ‘difficult and humbling’
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) reflected on the controversy after she was kicked out of a Denver theater on Sunday, saying the incident has been “humbling.”

Boebert was kicked out of a theater during a production of the Beetlejuice musical for vaping and causing a disturbance. Her office initially denied the vaping claims, but video from the incident appears to prove them.

The controversial congresswoman garnered widespread criticism for her behavior, mostly online.
“The past few days have been difficult and humbling, and I’m truly sorry for the unwanted attention my Sunday evening in Denver has brought to the community,” Boebert said in a Facebook post Friday. “While none of my actions or words as a private citizen that night were intended to be malicious or meant to cause harm, the reality is they did and I regret that.”

Video from the evening also appears to show the congresswoman arguing with and flipping off theater security as she was escorted out.
She attributed part of her behavior to a recent divorce and other personal challenges.

“I’ve tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I can, but I simply fell short of my values on Sunday. That’s unacceptable and I’m sorry,” she said.
“I’m deeply thankful to those in the 3rd District who have defended me and reached out this week and offered grace and support when I needed it the most. I’ve learned some humbling lessons these past few days but I vow moving forward, I will make you proud,” she added.
