I'm having trouble keeping my temps down and I think it's due to my exahust being on 24/7...Is there a better method to using exhaaust? Maybe on for like 15 mins every hour instead?

Well it is a very vague question.

It all depends on your setup.

Lights, grow area, inside a cab, closet, HID or cfl, etc etc.

Also what is the temp outside the grow area.

With that you can get more advice.

It's a tarped in room about 12x10...the outside is usually 5 degrees hotter and it gets up to mid 90s

this really dont make sense....my exhaust if left on when lights are off they will freeze....where is your incoming air coming from?

It's coming from a room outside the tarped room on the 2nd floor... I cycle lights on during the night

so the room you have this box in, is 90degrees and you are pulling air into the light using the ambient temps? Even in mid day at 90 degrees F outside and no air, my room is only at 80.....you need to pull some cooler air from somewhere else

you dont necessarily have to keep you exhaust on all the time...
Infact if your in vegging you want to keep high humidity, so no need to turn on the exhaust i have all my mothers and clones and vegging plants in a room with no exhaust...
You can keep it off pretty much until the buds start forming...
I turn it on after about a week of flowering... and then i keep it on all the time...
peace out...

I only have mine on during the same time lights but then i dont really have heat problems and im even using a 400watt hps. Do you have a strong oscillating fan?

hot air rises my second floor is always hotter....so this means your pulling air from a hotter source?

Well there are a lot of passive intake holes throughout the WHOLE room, so I just figured i'd take air from there to put in the tarped room. It would be kind of hard to take air from any other room in the house. I've been messing around with everything and it seems like during the day if I leave the exhaust and and main fan pushing air in the off then the AC has enough power to keep the temps down in the room alone.

ok well yeah that makes sense then....if ya have air conditioning able to keep up...then you DO NOT need to exhaust...actually would be a good room to add C02 in!

turn off your exhaust and leave it off if the AC is good!

How often should I have the exahust come on then? During hte day (lights out) is the hardest for me to maintian low temps. I closed off a lot behind the intake fan so it's not bringing AS much fresh hot air in. WIth my AC running constantly to keep temps down during day, should I still keep Exhaust on 24/7? Should I put my big intake fan, which is also a big air circulator, on 15 min on 15 min off intervals 24/7? I have 1 osc and 1 box fan on 24/7 too.

if it were me, and if i understand this set up....I would run AC when lights are on with no exhaust (as long as this is temp constant) at night how hot does it get? if the ambient night temps are over 85 F i would run exhaust with your circulating fan and put a frozen milk jug in front of it, this should cool you down until lights and AC comes back on

kjc0314 give us specific detail about the room. You said that it was a 12x10=120 sq feet. How high is the ceiling? When venting, you go by cubic feet. What wattage is/are the lamps? are the lamps air cooled? What are you using for exhaust fans? can, squirrel cage? duct booster? Any other heat producers in the room? Hydro/soil? More detail=better answers.

when my light are off temps drop. so if my exhaust fan id on then im pulling what little heat out of the room. i don't want it that coldin their.:hump: 65 degress when lights off and 85 when lights on.
oh ok, i gotcha...i myself do not need to exhaust when lights are out......lights on during night time and after midnight my box gets to 74F!

So, if I have my lights on during hte night, should I still keep everything off during the day (lights off), even all the fans? Should I keep my AC unit on and maybe 1 fan pushing that cooler air around? Gets pretty hot during hte day.
