exhaust Fan & carb filter

I grew a few plants last year just sitting in the house. Wife said the smell was bad and not sure if she will let me grow again. So I bought a 24 x 48 x 60 inches grow tent. What size exhaust fan do I need and carbon filter should I use. I can not have any smell in the house and will vent into attic. I have seen all in one carbon filter and fan are these any good to use?

Also, do not have any grow lights yet for tent and advice here would be helpful.

I'm doing a soil grow first.

I'll actually be putting it outside the tent and using it to pull air through an air cooled 400w that I bought with it.

I'm going to have an inline fan controller and I don't think I will need a fan on the inside to cool but not positive yet.

I saw that Inline Fan With Carbon Filter to and was thinking about getting it. The only concern I have is it's only 170 cfm; not sure if big enough to cool the tent.

It's actually rated for 190 cfm and your grow area is 40 sq ft. Thats means that fan can exchange all the air in your grow area 4.75 times a min.

I'm getting the MH and the HPS. They come with the light that I ordered. You should really consider that light. It comes with both bulbs (value of $60+), and has a built in ballast and you can air cool it.

420...that's a nice light package from a top notch company. I would be hesitant only due to it's all in one housing. The bulb alone generates heat and with the added ballast you'll need good ventilation to get that heat exhausted. Anything above say a 250 are really better suited to a remote ballast that can be placed outside of the hot zone. Op..you should go with a remote ballast if your concerned about heat. These 400s generate quite a bit of heat..I have one.

I bought the hose adapter to air cool the hood. Heat shouldn't be a problem.
