expectations

So I will try to get some pictures up when I have a chance to take them. But as a first time grower, I have three plants that are about 3.5 weeks into my switching to 12/12. I was just wondering what to expect, if there is some common thought. at what point during the 8 week estimated flowering period does the most bud growth usually happen? I have two plants of a known strain, and one plant of an unknown freebie seed. the two plants of the know strain have a lot a lot of pistils or hairs growing, but it doesnt seem like much density or bud growth forming around the hairs, and the unknown is forming noticable buds, but they just dont have a lot of size yet even on the top cola. I was just curious as if I should expect the bud sites to get much bigger in the coming weeks? anyways, again I'll try to get some pics posted tonight.

It's impossible to tell exactly, even with pics and more info.
But generally, they fatten up, with the last few weeks.
Also, there is a high chance that the known strains are sativas and are taking longer to flower, and the free one is an indica.
But like I said dude. Pics, lights, growing method?
Also, how are you doing on nutes?

well they are under 200watts of hps and a ton of cfl, like 600watt equivelant. they are all in five gal buckets of just a store bought miracle grow organic potting mix, that is labeled to feed plants for six months, however I do add a packaged organic tomato and plant food labeled for flower cycles. I only add that probably every third watering. they all seem healthy, I have just never experienced this before so just dont really know what to expect. two of the plants are an indica/sativa blend, called "carmelicious" from an amsterdam seed bank, and the other was packaged in freebies, but but its tall narrow stature compared to the known strain I would actually think its sativa. http://www.amsterdammarijuanaseeds.com/index.php they have done me right on two orders so far, so I don't hesitate to give them good press.

Remember that switching to 12/12 does not begin the flowering period. It can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks before it begins depending on plant genetics/environment. Don't start counting down the weeks until there are noticable flowers on each of the tops.

3.5 weeks in flower is just abt enough time to tell the sex, as stated could take more that 8 weeks depends on the condition of your grow, it could take maybe 5 to 6 weeks before you start to see buds. Have patience.

well, I could definitly tell the sex within 5 days, I threw out a male that was obvious and the girls were showing too. Maybe I just have good vision.

Another question is about the last picture here...the spots only seem to happen on the bottom most leaves...is this normal as they get less light and less nutrients at this point?

The close up pics are technically the top bud, even though its really off to the side, I had to tie this girl down in a low stress bend as she sky rocketed passed the other two, and is too high for how high I can raise my lights. She doesnt seem to mind the bend. the bud is about the size of the top two digits of a pinky finger for reference...or maybe the size of a baby bic lighter if thats a better reference. i'm really hoping the buds get a lot bigger, but on this one there is a ton of bud sites anyways, so i think for a first time I will end up being happy with her.

Im such an excited first timer i cant controll myself. I have some carmelicious clones in veg too, so i know Ill have some new girls ready to switch it up with.

You're on your way to a dscent harvest, just don't pick it too early. Do you have a mag glass? need one to check the trichs you're looking for 20% to 30% amber. All amber will give you more of a couch lock.

i wish you would supercrop your carmelicious. or light LST. the main colas are getting too tall and you can get more bud sites if you bend them down NOW.

yea, i actually did top, and supercrop the branches on the carmelicious. I just did it a while back...maybe to early, i dunno...im a noob remember, but they corrected and healed up nicely and on the branches there is the dark scar tissue where i did it, ..but well see what happens. I dont have a magnifier yet, but I probably have a few weeks before thats too important anyways, ill probably pick one up before harvest time.
