expected grow room cost ?

I was wondering what I should expect to spend on a good quiet odor free grow room doing hydro? Using a 400w/600w HID light. good quality air filter and quality quiet fan. say a room 4 x 3' by 6' high. a digital ballast, good quality EC/Ph meters, with hoses/clamps/mylar everything included ? good enough so I do not have to upgrade the room again.

not talking monthly cost in electricity, but total cost of setting up. I figure its gonna be about thousand. is this about right?

please give opinions..... I'm not talking a Dixie cup, borrowed shop light type grow setup.

def not my choice, you'd be spending a grand or better for nothing but ballast , hood , lamps fan and filter combo if I listed my choice .
all you need to know is solis-tek matrix for a ballast, hortilux for lamps and bluelab for meters.hydrofarm makes some decent hoods but you can get better.

first feature to look for in a ballast is rf shielding, if none then your ballast sticks out like a sore thumb depending on certain things. it's very detectable, if stealth is an issue then a matrix would do nicely.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
If you do a 4x4 tent with a 4x4 flood table figure like this...

Heres what I spend typically...
4x4 table tray $80
1 dimmable 600 watt lumatek ballast new $135 delivered
1 New matched lumatek Bulb HPS $85
1 light hood figure $100
2 fans 1 intake i exhaust $95 for the par
2 clip on 6inch fans $70 for the pair
25-30 gallon res I used rubbermaid cost me $12 has to be thicker one or buy specific one with tray for about $65
I grow in 5x5 square pots filled with hydroton usually each pot $2.50 I use 15 in a 4x4 table so $37.50
1 large bag hydroton about $35 locally
miscellaneous tubing and fittings about $15
Digital ph pen about $30 for ok one that will be fine to use
Optional but recommended a ppm meter figure $50- $90
1 pump can be like a simple 150 GPH figure $25 shipped
Light hanger rachet set $10 shipped from ebay
Extras include things like netting or stakes for support about $25
Maybe a simple digital atmostsphere reader from walmart for $15 tells temp, humidity, time and date
Oh and 2 timers about $30 for set.
Add $100 if you want a 6 inch carbon scrubber with fan

Thats little under $800 so if you figure $1000 your good gives you some room to add or upgrade where you'd like. Then figure in Nutes I run Fox Farm can recommend them with confidence

Do a top/hand feed coco grow in a 4x4 tent with a 600w. It is easy to run with success and will get awesome results. You can get all bigger costly supplies online for good deals. Local shops usually give the best deals if you know people there.
vvvv This is what I could find quickly and everything will work just fine and well thought I'm sure some one will tell you to spend 600 on just the light.

Tent($118) -

Ballast and bulb ($210)- http://www.ebay.com/itm/QUANTUM-600W-Digital-Dimmable-Ballast-DIGILUX-600W-HPS-Hydroponics-Grow-Light-/390497513616?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5aeb7730
Reflector ($85)- http://monstergardens.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=14_24_167&product_id=2255
Fan and filter($105or$140) 6" would have more uses should you expand later.-

Hangers($8) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rope-Ratchet-Heavy-Duty-1-Pair-light-hanger-fixture-reflector-hood-150lb-max-/251259338834?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a80394052
Ducting($21)- Any Home Depot
Ducting connectors((4)@2.50ea)$10- Any Home Depot
(16) 2gallon fabric pots @2.80ea...$45- ebay or any decent hydro shop
(2) 2cuft bags coco @ $22ea...$45- monstergardens.com
Temp/humidity meter$10- walmart
3 part nut line about $55 for all 3- monstergardens.com
scissor $10- anywhere
PPM meter and it actuallly works $15- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-LCD-TEMP-PPM-TDS-Meter-Tester-Filter-Pen-Stick-Water-Quality-Purity-/261159161944?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cce4c9058
PH meter($40)- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hanna-PH-Digital-Pen-Meter-Checker-Testing-for-Hydroponics-and-Liquids-/321033178117?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4abf118c05

That all totals $812. It is all decent quality and shouldn't have any problems and still fits in the $1000 range. With more time effort you could easily find some better prices or better gear(i.e. PH/TDS/PPM meter).

you never said what you would expect to pay overall for that kinda setup. wanna know what your opinion is on this.

blowincherry pie
you did not include everything. things like fan/filter, ec/ph meter, hoses, hygrometer/temp meter. clippers, hydro setup (running 2 plants in that space), tent. light hangers, the works. from the ground up. estimate of course.

wife agrees to get good stuff and get it done right the first time, but since she hasn't done the research like I have, I think she gets a little sticker shock when I show her the list. wanna ease her mind if the good growers on here tell me i'm not going insane with the price.

remember you may need a humidifier or dehumidifier also. a good quality tds/ec/ppm combo meter is probably around 200 bucks. then another 10-20 bucks for calibration solution.

probably want to invest in some kind of bug/fungus control also. avid is something you can get that will last a lifetime (you only use a few drops out of the bottle to kill any type of insect) time and can knock everything out if you have the equipment to administer it.

also you can expect to have to buy lots of small things like peroxide, alcohol, rubber gloves, constant supply of nutrients, hand soap etc.

myself i found i got nickel and dimed almost as much as buying the expensive items.

also after growing a bit i find you always want to add something else to your room when you really get into the hobby but maybe thats just me though.

Why get a 600w ballast with 400w bulbs? Also, you won't need the Ona block. I'm not sure if that Air King clip on fan is ocillating, but if not I'd recommend this instead http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-Holmes-Personal-Clip-Fan-White-Two-Speed-Oscillation-Settings-/121093845067?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c31c1704b#ht_1923wt_966
Not sure if there's something special about that timer for $60, but this is the one I use, $19 http://www.homedepot.com/p/Defiant-15-Amp-7-Day-8-Outlet-Digital-Timer-Power-Strip-49811/203678165
I also found a better price on your fan http://www.ebay.com/itm/Can-Fan-6-S600-Centrifugal-Inline-Fan-269-CFM-exhaust-blower-scrubber-vent-/130829303082?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e7608bd2a#ht_2934wt_1026

gonna use 400w till I get better idea if I can control heat in my small space. if no heat problems then i'll get 600w.
no fan is not oscillating, i'll look around for one on your suggestion.
hehe on the timer, 60 is the price for 2, did not realize the quantity was not posted.
the ona block is for when my grow room door is open, i'll have to have my door open to rest of house when I do.

I'm not sure how much more the 600w bulbs would be over the 400w, but I know you'll spend more buying both. I'd get the 600w bulbs in the first place since you can dim them down anyways, but that's me. When I have my tent open to feed/water and tend to my garden, after I'm done I just spray some Ozium. It works better than Ona in my opinion.
