Hi there fellow RIU'ers... Over and over again I continualy see new threads and posts about electrical work question and thought I would post a couple threads to help you guys the same way all of you done a great job having helped me... So, Do you have a grow room question about how to wire something up, or what are the safest ways of doing things? The most important one I see alot is running lights and fans off power chords... I have wired my own grow room and will post an example of my work.

Please, if you have any questions and are unsure of what to do, PLEASE! ask me first if you are even a tad bit unsure. I would hate to have anyone have an electrical fire because they didn't quite know what they were doing.. I will do my best to point you in the right direction.

If you want to do some wiring your self, I will either let you know if your project is too complicated if your not handy with electrical, or, IF YOU ASK, I will walk you thru your project step by step.

So please, ASK AWAY!!!

You can post questions here but you may not get your question answerd on the thread, best way to go about it is PM me. You will forsure get a response back.

PS Even if you have basic around the home electrical questions, shoot em my way.

Hey Bricktown, Thanks for the answer about wiring a 220 volt out of a 110 outlet. I've got another one for you; i,ve got a 3 pin 12 volt computer fan, how do I hook this up to a 2 wire 12 volt adapter?

Can I wire a bathroom exhaust fan to a grounded 3-prong plug? If so, is it fairly straightforward or do I need to watch out for anything in particular?

My closet needs ventilation but I really don't want to try and wire it into the house.

I have two ballasts which both are restricted to 120 V operation. The primaries of both ballasts are mono-tap

If possible to put them in serier across a 240 V source, what might the considerations be, the input impeadances? The load curves of the MH vs. the HPS or just let them argue over who can suck best at the supply current

Hello Bricktown i hope you are well i am setting up my room an have a question on Electrical i have some experiance but not a pro !!
i am running 12 - 1000 watt ballasts @ 220v this gives me a load calc of 54.5 Amps , my main panel is in the basemend that is th egrow room i have a sub panel in the garage where the ballasts and co2 controllert etc are .
the distance from main to sub is 20 feet i have about 80 amps spare on my main i can run to my sub that will be for my ballasts so the question is what size breaker should i use in my main to run a feeder cable to the sub and what size cable preferably romax >?
i was thinking 4/3 with a 80 amp breaker but i want to be safe i dont want to big of a breaker and have it trip if need be

This is awesome as I have a newly found electrical problem.....
I recently installed 2 80mm fans that are running off of the only 12v supply I have which is a - 12v 2500mah - and the issue is that they spin way too fast sounding like little jet engines, they are pushing too much air on my seedlings and way too loud.
So how can I slow them down cheaply and easily?
Thanks and Cheers!
