Can anyone give me any advice of re-useing soil,i have never done this before and don't think its a good idea. But when you are doing a good ammount of plant's it could be a tip to keep in yr armoury of growing. If you are doing a ammount of plant's then getting the soil in and out of yr house is a realy task, even more so in country's that growing is illegal. So i am wanting any advice on re-useing the soil,am i right in thinking that the soil will need flushing after use.Or do i just pull the plants and pull all the root sytem apart and then re use.........tyke

I'm the roughest gardener in human history and reuse soil all the time.

However, I have a living and growing mulch heap out the back which bakes in the desert sun.

If you throw your soil out the back of your place and hit it up hard with a mattock to churn it around and leave it outside for a few weeks it will be as good as new as far as I am concerned. I throw old expanded clay and coco peat in the mix as well and have a good result with all growths.

I think it depends on where your soil is from, and how you can enrich it with organic matter from the garden.

NOT re-using your soil is short sighted, wasteful and very expensive.

It is so easy to 're charge' the used soil and use it again that it borders on idiotic to throw it away.

Mine works better the second time around.

What do you do to the soil? I'm an indoor grower so I can't hump it all outside and back in again..(too many nosey neighbours..)

this is on the biobizz site n they are talking bout the all-mix

The potting soil can be reused indefinitely on condition that the following rules are observed:
1. Do not reuse potting soil that has been infested severely by parasites.
2. Remove the top layer of soil and throw it away.
3. Remove roots and plant debris as best you can, a forked tool is useful for this.
4. Add fresh potting soil, coconut fibre and perlite until the original volume is reached.
5. To the 1000 litres of soil add 50 litres of Pre-Mix and 100 litres of Worm-Humus and mix thoroughly.*
6. The soil mixture now needs to be lightly wetted in order for it to humidify. For best results leave for at least a few days in order for the microbiological bacteria's and enzymes in the Pre-Mix to proliferate.

*Reuse per 1000 litre soil mixture:
- 5% Pre-Mix (50 litres)
- 10% Worm-Humus (100 litres)
