Expert grow tent setup advice.

Good evening everyone at RIU! I have some grow tent setup questions that I'm not sure abt. I'd appreciate some expert help. These questions will refer to exhaust, HPS, and Co2 setups.

1) In my bloom tent ( 48x24x60) I'm thinking of putting a 600w HPS. Can i exhaust that light with a 6'' 160 cfm in-line fan? Do people put filters on their light exhaust or would that jst cause problems?

2) In regards to a Co2 setup. Been shopping around and im wondering if i should buy a $135 Co2 regulator and find a cheap Co2 20lb canister to attach it to. Or would i be better advised to by a complete system. Found 1 at HTG.com for around $285 (no clue on shipping)

3) can a Can filter even be attached to an in-line fan? Or do i need a squirrel cage fan? I have thin walls and noise could be a problem.

I appreciate the help! I harvested off of my last setup and was quite dismayed. So I'm going to use my profit to update. I'll rep as many people as possible. If i miss ya i'll get you tomorrow.:joint:

The fan will probably do a decent job at exhausting it but certainly not ideal though it also depends on the curves in your ducting.

I can't offer any help on C02, have never tried it though plan on it sometime in the next year.

I'm fairly certain as long as the fan/filter are the same size it would work. It wouldn't be good business to produce filters that only work on their own fans, could limit sales as their fans are much more expensive than the cheaper alternatives. Though the extra expense is likely justified, they are efficient and quiet.

I appreciate the response. I've never used an HID system and I know they run hot. I have to pick up some of my stuff at the hydro store and i intend to pick there brains and look at the tents they have set up there. I jst want to make sure that i create an efficient set up. I can tell u one thing. I budded 4 plants with a hi output flouro system and it looked like i had atleast 4 ounces. But when i weighed it, I got abt 2 1/2. That killed my high! Thanks again. Peace!

1) You should get a stronger fan - 300CFM and up for that. You can have exhaust and light cooling run off of one fan, but then you'll need a much larger fan, around 500CFM (loud).

2) I'm buying some tanks tomorrow and am going to buy a regulator from my local hydro store along with the Sentinel CHHC-1, so I can't really tell you much about that for a little bit. However, I'd assume that most tanks will fit onto most regulators (could be wrong, but I think I'm right).

3) The diameters should match up, but yes, any filter can be attached to any inline and/or squirrel cage fan (people still use those?) as long as the diameters are the same.

Bob- I really appreciate the info. I'll pick up a stronger fan for the HPS exhaust and use another for a tent exhaust. Thanks again! + rep.

My pleasure, kid - check out my journal for pics of how I've been fitting things into my tents.

Good luck :blsmoke:
