Extremely Curious. Need Some Insight

i am curious about something, my grower buddy has had real bad harvests for like 4 months straight, his herb ends up being very airy and dry and smells like grass...he uses 2 600s, but i dont know the specifdics of his set up, hes sorta messy tho...anyways, i harvested one as well that kind of has the same characteristics, very fluffy, smells kind of like grass, the weeds there it just seems like the soul is missing,lol...ive seen this same post a bunch and everyone says it will get better with curing but ive seen this before, it doesnt get better... i know this could be any number of things but if anyone even has any suggestions id love to hear it...overwatering?..i used FFoF but i know he used MG..i used 3 gallon white plastic buckets and drilled my own holes in the bottom and i know they were wayy too small but i think he uses grow bags which have holes on the side so i know it was more aerated than my buckets...so any suggestions??..the weed doesnt look bad as u can tell , but its not that dense but it was rock hard on the plant...i just dont want this to happen again, thanks guy....

Its all about the cure bro Hit up the https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/ threads and research away. Don't worry man you are not the only one with this issue.

get the light as close to the plant as possible with out burning the colas.
2-600 shouldnt give you popcorn buds unless its the strain or your ballast/light bulb are going bad.

I use a combo of Bloom Blaster, blackstrap molasses and Carbo Blast during the last three weeks of flower then flush for a couple more weeks.This gives me dense dank buds.Then dry and cure properly I.E.(mason jars) A product called (Sweet) will work as a substitute for molasses and Carbo Blast,and it comes in flavors.Hope this helps.

thanks jack, ill have to try that...ive heard alot about the "sweet" stuff and seen it on the shelf...what does it do and does it work??

alot has to do with the strain. if its a bad strain no matter wat you do it will be boo boo. the grassy smell could be from not flushing. when you find the right strain and your in good soil your weed will come out dank. if the shit is going to smell it will stink on the plant and off. curing doesnt bring the smell back as much as you think. its going to stink or its not. look into finding a strain you like

sweet is bullshit. look at the garunteed analysis. go with humbolt honey.

the very first plant i grew was HUGE but tasted like shit and didn't get you high whatsoever, thought it was because I didn't dry in the dark and the clor didn't die. But I tried the same when i bought my first skunk 1 seeds and have never smelled that smell ever since. I never cure mine and it still tastes and smells fabulous

yeah same here i harvest pounds and pounds and i dont have time to jar it. its gone withing a weekend to hella clubs. just let it fully dry and then bag it. should be kill if its ever going to be

its not the strain, diablo og is a very good strain, IMO i fucked it up early by growing it in 3 gallon white buckets that had small holes drilled in the bottom, like way small maybe half a pencils thickness and only 5 or 6 of them, personally i think i over water or maybe i watered normal but since the pot wasnt aerating as much as it should have been i waterlogged the roots or something...this blue venom was in the same grow cabinet 5 inches away and it was in another black grow store 2 gallon pot and the blue venom was absolutely incredible...

You're getting good advice , genetics is the most important part of the equasion and I'm sure Humbolt Honey will work as well. The Sweet is pricey and I don't like artificial flavor but it has worked for me . I like the Carbo Blaster $20.00 treats 265 plants and molasses is like $4.00 its best to experiment and find what works best for you. The Bud Blaster works for me but I've also heard good things about Bloomblastic the point is you need to add more P, K, fructose and carbs this combo helps improve flower density, smell and flavor IMO.

iv had 3 different grand daddy purple pheno types. same strain. but if you were to judge one that i had you would think gdp is garbage. on the other hand i grew one for a couple years thats in my journal thats str8 fire

no im a little late join the conversation but how long did he let them flower could they have been harvested early ?

thabks for the great advice guys, much appreciated, i just use flora nova bloom nutes during flower and add koolbloom during late flowering, i think the kooolbloom is 2-45-48 or something like that, very high in p and k..molasses blackstrap molasses every other feeding and during flush...do u guys think i should do anything else?..keep in mind i like to keep it simple, some of these nutrient regiments are too finicky, i like the flora nova line and it works great but does anyone have any rocksolid imp[rovements i can add to my flora nova base??

not harvested early, just rootlock i believe, although i think this thread has moved toward the nutrient conversation side of things so im just rollin with it, haha...
