The problem with the root method, the root rot pathogen is present, no matter what.
What I do with root rot is..... I have two different waters in my house.... The entire house uses softened water... I use well water unsoftened in my Rez.....
when root rot happens , I take the plant to the water softened sink, rinse off all black shit, with salt/softened warm water... Look for any light leaks, fill the net pot to the top with hydroton. Seal bucket as light proof as possible...
BTW, I went to lowe's for buckets the other day... BE CAREFUL! They are making their buckets thinner allowing LOTS of light in now.
