fan and filter

okay i have been told to get rid of my filter but i thought it was needed for the smell,

so my question is how many people use there exhaust fan without a filter??

and should i dump my filter???

wtf? why get rid of your filter? Unless you have a fan that is not powerful enough for the filter. If thats the case, change the fan and keep the filter. Its not so important when your plants are not flowering but once they are you will be glad of the filter if the smell is going to be an issue for you. Or the other option is to use ona gel if you only have a small grow on the go.

it was someone on hear who said dump the filter, i posted question in general marijuana section, my prob is that my temps are to high, i bought a 6" cool hood and have fitted it between my 4" filter and 4" exhaust fan but it has only dropped the temp from 103f to 97f, the fan is quite far away from the hood and the filter is quite far away as well, i was thinking of trying to get the fan as close as poss to the hood, i was informed that i may need to buy a 6" fan but thought that the 4" fan i already had would make more of a difference than it has.

Arr I see, 2' is to big a difference - the 4' fan will not be powerful enough for your kind of setup so in that case whoever it was is correct but you really dont want to be going without a filter. So if money is an issue and you have a small grow I would go with ona gel or other odour removers. If money isnt a problem then invest in a bigger fan that can cope with your setup

as it happens i have a friend who has just chopped his plants down, but he is not doing any more and he said i can have what i want from he's stuff, he has a 6" fan and 6" filter, so i am gonna use the 6" to drag air out through the cool hood and the 4" to pull fresh air in, so hopefully that will sort out the temps or maybe not, lol
