Fan Heat Issues

Hey,

So i have a centrifugal fan and its moves plenty air however it gets rather hot pretty fast and it worries me a bit.

Would a fan speed controller help this?

Alternatively i could set the fan on a timer however i just checked and after 20ish min of being off its still hot/warm so i dont know if that would work either.

Ideas?

And im just using CFLs too :/

Yes it will assist in the heat produce by the fan, by decreasing the watts used. But it will also slow down the outtake of the hot air. Is the fan inside the tent/grow room? I just set mine on top of the tent, as we should have most heat producing items out of the grow space. i.e. ballast, fans, chillers or whatever. I guess I’ve never noticed any heat problems with my fan because of this.

Very smart, as most growers overlook this. You can setup the fan on any timer, volts compatible of course. But if your in a tent with negative pressure your plants are susceptible to light penetration during this period, due to the flaps. Also if its your flowering tent you should have no worries if your plants are getting a extra 15 minutes of light, on a 12 hour photoperiod.

Now a better way is to have an intake and exhaust fan, you can set those fans on a thermostat at 85 or so, and you shouldn’t worry about light leaks as long as there isn’t positive or negative pressure. Seal the tent flaps with duct tape or something. This is the way I have my fans setup. My flower tents are on for 12 but my fans run 15 more minutes after lights go out.

Any electrical appliance has minimum and maximum operating temps.

i NEVER turn off my fans EVER. i have had fans running 24/7 for over a year. never had an issue lol

Yeah, I leave my inline fan running 24/0 or else I get heat issues. The fans are built to be run non-stop, so go ahead and turn it on and leave it on.

Welllllll i let my fan run overnight and its still hot/warm but i think thats just how it runs so im not going to worry to much. Cheap fan anyway and i ended up getting an extra motor very very cheap just in case.

Also ive been freezing jugs of water and putting them in the grow room to provide some extra cooling power.

Seems to be working.
Tried the fan on a timer but my grow room just gets too hot if its not running and the plants already show a little heat stress (just tiny bit of leaves pointing up i doubt my temps are over 80s and they still look healthy)

What is the temp without anything running, lights or fan? Ambient Temp?
