Hello Dat Boi and welcome to RIU....
You asked a most perplexing question....
That debate has been known to cause e-fights, bans, bloody lips and bigger yields.
YES, you can indeed open up your plant to air flow, light, and happiness. Indicas tend to be real leafy, which is fine when the plant is grown outdoors where Mother Nature designed her.... HOWEVER, when we grow INDOORS, it is OK to remove leaves as needed. Just remember leaves contribute to the plant's energy. You should make sure that removing a leaf exposes another leaf, or a bud site, before removing it.
I remove leaves to improve air flow, allow light into the middle of the plant and to increase my yields. I also cut off all sucklings and most fan leaves, two nodes from tip on back to main stem.
