Fan leaves under stems at nodes

I am a relative newb to growing. I've been growing successfully for about a year. However, I can not seem to find an answer to this seeming anomaly: My plants have recently begun to grow two stems at each side of a single node. The top growth is a stem that continues to grow many nodes and the growth below is a single fan leaf. Both growths connect at the same spot on the main stem. Often the lower leaf has a purple stem and the top branch is normal green. My question is "is this normal?" I am growing with DWC and under high end grow LEDs. Environmentally ideal conditions (~75 Fahrenheit, ~30-40% humidity, tons of airflow.) These are otherwise very healthy plants. Any thoughts?

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Hopefully this helps. Here are a few picks of one of my younger babes. One pic shows where I pruned off the fan leaves below the growth shoots shown above the the stumps. The other pics show a relatively established fan leaf below a newer growth node on a couple parts of the plant. Also, I should have mentioned that I fimmed this youngin after she established her third node. She was grown from seed and is about a month old. She seems to be creating 8 new growth sites as opposed the 4 I had become accustomed to after fimming. I really appreciate all of your help. It's hard teaching oneself all of this with Google as one's only source, hehe.

And here is one of my teens showing the same thing. She has not been toppep or fimmed. I did prune her first two nodes but well after she was established. No stressors accept a bit of nute burn on the last changeover image.jpeg

Its growing like that due to your manipulations....not a bad thing but this goes to show you that..

If you dont know how its going to affect your plant, you probably shouldnt be doing it.When you fim or top you redistribute hormones to the lower nodes causing shoot growth.

Stop cutting your plant until you realize what its going to do or cause for your grow.

Experimentation is important, but so is research.

One leaf and one secondary branch/cola at every node is normal.

When the plant is still immature. The plant will develop one leaf and one branch at same same node, on opposite sides of each other.

you've been growing "successfully" for a year and your plants have only recently begun growing branches like any healthy pot plant does?... ok then.

No man, I just had not paid attention to that before. As any beginner does, when they are trying to learn something new, I focused on the big picture. You know, making sure my plants were healthy. Now that I have got my nutes dialed in, my DIY recirculating system functioning reliably, my lights and my atmospheric variables dialed in, I've begun to focus on the details of the plant's growth. So I must ask, what the hell is wrong with you people? My plants have been growing healthy since day 1. Bet you can't say that yourself, but I'm sure you will. Is this forum used as a pissing contest for fat nerds living in their mom's basement with nothing else to do but vent rage by deeming other people? I am trying to learn more, and perfect this beautiful art form so I can better help my sick and dying friends and family. All you all seem to have to offer is passive aggressive douchebaggery.

Your plants are totally normal. The bottom fan leaf collects light to feed the branch it's connected to.

IMHO, you may be over feeding those girls. Lighten the dosage and let her walk calmly through her veg stage that she just entered into. Good Growin.
