Fan recommendations for 6x2x6 closet grow

High everyone, I'm going to be upgrading from T5 Floros to a 600W HPS soon and will need a fan powerful enough to vent all that terrible heat up into my attic and possibly an intake fan as well? If possible I would prefer it to be at least somewhat quiet since I sleep in the same room of the closet.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I would recommend a 6" inline fan for your space and lighting. I don't use an intake fan, just passive intake. It will depend on your heat if you really need an intake fan.

He has 72 sq. feet in his tent, so he would need a 360CFM inline fan. I don't think you can find a 4" inline with those CFM so I would go with a 6".

Don't know how you came up with 360cfm. The rule of thumb is to exchange the air in under 2 min. so a 4 inch will be fine, more than you need but it is always better to have more than less, as ever bend reduces flow by 15 to 20%.

Sheesh! Some confusion going on here! Someone is quoting cfm(volume) & area in the same sentence. Here's the science!! To prevent heat build up, the room needs to have its air exchanged anywhere between 4x per min to every 4 mins. Most I know go for a min of once per min, I prefer a min of air exchange every 30 seconds, this removes heat but not humidity (essential). A carbon filter will reduce suction by 25% and as mentioned, bends can reduce suction by up to 15%. Since all fans are rated by cfm (cubic feet per min) or M3/H (cubic meters per hour) this is what you need to do. Calculate the volume of the room, length x height x width. A 600W light is good for roughly 1sqm or 16sq ft. Assuming the height of the room is 6'6" 2M, this will give a volume of 104cf (2m3) with no carbon filter or bends, exchanging the air once per min would need a 104cfm fan or a 120m3/h rated fan. Weather these are 4", 5" or 6" is irrelevant, it is the fan rating you need to know. Going solely by aperture diameter is like saying my dick is bigger than yours!!! and makes no sense at all. Fact not fiction. W

Your math is WAY OFF.lol.The fan needs to be able to supply the room with fresh air every 2-5 min. Active Air makes a line of in-line fans that are around 40-60 dollars that should be more than enough to handle this set up.

I had one fan on the light and one for the room less than 100 bucks for both. Then connected both to a 'Y' at the top of the ceiling. 4 to 4 to 6 inch Y connector which entered the Attic just like you are talking about.

You could also put the light on a 4ft. light rail as well to maximize your grow space.

No you should be fine. IF it were a thouie it would be different. I would still recomend getting a four foot light moover you can maximize the use of your space and put the light closer to your plants improving yeild and what not.
