Fan wiring to 12V Adapter help

I got this Detmar fan blower with two wires, black and yellow. And, tried connecting it to the adapter and failed, the wires for the adapter are red and black...

Yellow is normally a control wire, can you post a pic of exactly what you're working with so I can tell you how to wire it. also do you have a multimeter?

If it's only 2 wires, blk and yellow I'd have to say the yellow is pos, blk is neg, your adapter has red and blk, therefore I would wire red to yellow and blk to blk, also fan says 3.5A make sure your adapter can put out 3.5A or more.

There's no way that brick will output 3.5a.Did the fan kick on at all? Try measuring your voltage on your red and black and make sure you got 12v, then measure resistance across the yellow and black wires and report back. I'm an electronic design Engineer so we'll get it going one way or another. 3.5A will be hard to achieve from a Wal wart though.

also if you have a soldering g iron clip your adapter wires that are stripped to about 1/4" and solder yellow to red and black to black to ensure you have a good connection.

Thanks all!, the adapter the company mailed with the fan didn't have enough output... Shenanigans.

Time to search online for one.
