FAQ's for Maine Patients

yeah mdanforth has it. It's not the date you enrolled on this board, hell i don't have loyalties to this board other than its run clean and there are some chill people, but lots of people don't run on boards or run other sites.. no that enroll date is pretty meaningless.

BUT like tet said, do some work, be on here sure, talk to people get to know people. Order seeds. We all did. I love trading, i like gifting cuz it means maybe i'm getting a gift someday, a little future surprise. I'll git to a friend in need, but not somebody just being lazy. AND. lets talk business too, why am i going to gift you a plant or two (and maybe a few other do to) so you can be a caregiver? I mean really? I got mad love for anyone doing the right thing, and i'll do what i can to help a sick person but come on, if your a competitor or have aspirations of such, well then brother we are trading.

and even then, it's gotta be a fair trade. I am sure i'm not the only guy to trade a real nice keeper to only get a throw away pheno.. I'm a nice guy and all but i aint doing somebody elses work either..

maybe i'm being a little aggro about this and i don't mean to be but it is going to get worse before it gets better. Someone used the contractor analogy, and thats a good one, because all those shady fucks are why the rest of us had a tarnished name. "oh a contracotr, huh?" I also think it's people scamming home owners that caused the rise in homeowners walking out on the last half of contracts, after the build is done..

I feel like we have a responsibility to not perpetuate or even permit shady dealings, we won't get the slack that cali got. This state is just looking for a reason to dissmantle the system already, i don't want to help them do it.

Is this response directed at me?? if so I'm not sure we are on the same page. I only had a question about the law. Never asked for clones/plants or any thing else. Sorry if not!

Hear you man, I would never be comfortable helping a caregiver out that was not willing to do the hard work expected. Now gifting to a patient that is starting out is a different thing in my opinion, and would be happy to help if possible

I've gifted to patients and traded with other caregivers but like cerb said it's gotta be a fair clean trade.....I tell all aspiring caregivers to either order seeds or expect mites as many growers have them....

Let me see if I have this right. I placed my wife as my CareGiver, and just received my card from the State (My choice to have the plastic version). I have nothing stamped by the State that has my wife as my designated Caregiver, as the Office of DHS/MMJ never returned that aspect of it when I submitted it. I talked to Darlene at the office, and she told me just to make print off of the form and fill it out, along with a photo ID of my wife, and that would suffice as proof that now my wife is my CareGiver. Something tells me this is just not right, as there is not even a stamp that approves/proves that my wife is now my Caregiver.

Any suggestions? Thanks as always for any response

unless you want her to have a card(that'll cost 3 bills) the caregiver designation form is all she'll need....there are no names of caregivers on patients cards or vice versa as per HIPPA guidelines

No, that's right. Remember, paitients are no longer required to register. Therefore, there ought not to be any way to identify a caregiver's patient to the state. Now, you have not stated whether your wife has done any kind of caregiver registration but I suspect not since she is a family member. If she had registered as a caregiver, she would not be identifying who the patient is, like you used to before the law changed last summer.

There is nothing through the state any longer that connects patients with caregivers. A caregiver buys "slots", and maintains a record of the agreement with their patient(s) should there ever be a challenge.

hey now. one card holder is allowed 6 plants in bud with no overlap of crops and how many in veg?

currently no count on vegging plants. Heard talk of 4 vegging for every 1 flowering, but that has not been enforced or announced.

So a card holder can have umpteen plants in veg? I thought it was 6 total? Seems like things change like the weather at times.

as the law reads to me and everyone I have talked to yes, you do not have a count on vegging plants. The count of 6 is on flowering plants. I am sure that will change soon enough

I don't think they can change it too much, it is pretty clear in the statute that we can have enough in veg to maintain a steady stream. I paraphrased the crap out of that of course. 3 or 4 in veg for every one in flower seems reasonable in any case. The first real limit one would reach I think is where the severity changes for a federal charge, which I believe is 99 plants total.

Thanks guys. I thought so, for I have seen some caregivers and others that have a lot of seedlings, clones, etc. Plus a lot of variety to keep the process going. Not anytime soon. The wording of LD 1296 allows possession of plants in veg, period. That could change via either the legislation or rulemaking processes. Maine's legislature is currently in what is known as Extended Session (i think) and only emergency legislation (which is defined, rather loosely, as anything that a legislator can get approved by whoever it is that decides such things) can be considered. At this point we have past the deadline for adding new legislation, meaning that there's no possiblity of legislative change. Rulemaking, the administrative process of taking a law and making it work in the real world, requires the signature of the departmental head to enact and, since the resignation of Cathy Cobb at DHHS, there is no departmental head to sign off on the changes.

I know there's been trouble at DHHS and some departures but I did not know that Cobb left.

yeah she left after the mock investigation into spending.. maybe 3 months ago.. we are losing a lot of experienced goverment workers (workers not politicians) during this administration..
