I was window shopping in a small town here in N. Cali (one of the few that PG&E didn't torch last year).
There was this locksmith shop, and he had an old safe in there. It was one of those round topped ones, front of it had a bank advertisement on it and a date of 1880.
I asked him if it was for sale.
He said sure. I asked him if he had the combination.
Nope.
I asked if he'd knew what was in it.
Nope.
I asked why ... he said he couldn't find a safe cracker that could get into it.
I said, then torch it open, change the lock from the inside, repair the torch hole.

He grinned and said that 'Back in the day, banks would sometimes put six or eight sticks of dynamite in the double walls. A robber would set a small charge to pop the door, and get a big surprise. Hitting that with a torch is also not advisable. Also, dynamite gets unstable with time and heat and actually turns into Nitro Glycerin. It's risky to even move the damn thing. Interested in buying it?"

Naw. Not so much ... now.

Ya know ... I remember an exchange between me and a cop while being 'detained' during a raid on a collective I was at when the cops busted in.
I told a fellow vendor there, in front of the cop, that "They may not tell you till its too late, but you have the right to remain silent. You have the right to have an atty present during questioning. And, if you don't; whatever you say will be twisted around to hurt you at trial."

The cop looked at me like he wanted to kick my ass, and I said, "Right?"

He said, curtly "Yes. Suspects have that right."
I said, "Oh no. Not just suspects, everybody. And they don't even have to be a citizen. Those rights are for anyone."

Yes. Even people who you designate as "Troll" have the right to speak, they don't have the right to be heard ... but, they can 'speak'.

Mainland Chinese people get uneasy when I say I'm American, I don't hide my pride about it either. I tend to encounter them when they want an English speaking dive guide in the Philippines. All I need to do to put them at ease is to tell them I'm Jewish. I can't explain it, but it ALWAYS works. It might not work with CCP officials though. Filipinos are generally more open minded as long as you show respect and have a decent demeanor. The Dutertards are a minority, even in Visayas. He is Visayan and his ridiculous rants are in Visayan and Visayan speaking people don't even take him seriously. It's widely known that he has always been backed by the CCP and Triads. They paid entire barangays to deliver the votes of every person for 100 pesos (like $3 Canadian) per head. The approval ratings in the %90+ were all fake news. Every now and then you'll run into a nutcase who is an ardent supporter but even then, disrespect is unlikely.

Don't go to any part of China if you're Canadian, imo even Taiwan is dangerous for you.
