Fate...

:leaf::leaf:soo just got done smokin last J of the night n got to thinkn about fate i wanna know what every1 out there thinks about fate do you belive in it why or why not??...i personally dont belive in fate because i dont like the idea that i do not have control of my own life:leaf::leaf:

I suggest looking into the debate of determinism vs. free will. Some would say that there is fate because things happen irreversibly, while others would argue that the chain of events that leads to any effect is far too intricate to point to a discernable "fate".

Basically my understanding is that determinists believe that all events are predetermined by an ancient series of events (big bang, original cause and effect, whatever), AKA fate. In other words, every event in your life has been made possible only because of past events, a simple example: if i'd never been stabbed, i wouldn't have met the hot nurse I married, who would have never introduced me to Hugh Hefner; therefore getting stabbed inevitably led to meeting Hugh Hefner.
The real battle isn't really det. vs. free will as much as it is to what degree a person accepts pure determinism. This is like 101 shit, maybe someone else can elaborate.

You all simply posted this because it's what I wanted to read. You don't really exist in any form other than figments of my imagination. If I willed you out of existence then you would simply cease to be and my memory of you would vanish.

You think you have free will, however my mind controls the cosmos around me and what you think is original thought is simply my wishing that will upon you.

I challenge you to disprove OR prove it. (I'm just fuckin with you guys.)

then why did you make me so poor, you sick controller of existence? lol
but a point that comes to mind: the feeling of being controlled (or the desire of being controlled by a higher power) corresponds with ones transfering of blame and accolade away from oneself. to inwardly believe in fate and/or a omnipresent diety is to relinquish ones inner power to the forces of denial and self-depreciation. I love you all, no offense intended :peace:

I beleive Im the master of my own fate, so Im not sure if that falls into the free will category, But I do know what will happen due to my present actions. When given a choice Im able to see both outcomes, and sometimes change them by doing said thing, slightly different. Though that outcome may still happen, I may have been able to make it better, or avoided a bad situation. PLus I beleive Karma can take a roll in this. Good Karma = better "fate" and Bad Karma = not so good "fate".

You don't believe in fate because you don't like the feeling of not being in control? Control is an illusion. You have no control over anything. Will you wake up tomorrow? Will you make it home after work? Will you lose your job? You simply don't know all you can do is control yourself. Everything else is a crapshoot. With that said I do believe in fate. There are simply things that cannot be explained and fit perfectly. You employ good things in others and fate will smile at you. Be a good conscious person and karma should never have a reason to frown on you.
