Faulty grow room surge protector caused havoc......

I just had a surge protector blow up on me, at first I had no idea what the problem was. My livingroom tv went dark and wouldnt turn on, microwave was running very low power, printer kept resetting, fans in the grow room were running very low, oven clock was dim and would blink. I did check the surge protectors 1st thing and all lights were on and seemed to be fine, and all the different outlets are on there own breaker so that wasnt it. Finally I was messing with the pc fan and there was a huge bright flash then smoke from the surge protector. Everything went back to normal. Took the surge protector apart and sure enough it blew up. I looked online and found complaints about this brand protector. I havent touched it since I hung it up on the wall in the closet, havent watered in 2 days so it wasnt water damaged. I can't believe it effected all the outlets.

It has dried spray foam on it, it's been very well used on construction sites previously. I decided to use it for the filter fan thinking it would be safer.... Guessed wrong. I'm going to try contacting the manufacturer and see about a replacement, I spent $30 on it back in 2005.

Hard to tell for sure but it looks like a MOV blew and thats what happens if it catches a big surge. May ask neighbors if their power was flickering.

You just missed your chance to get a brand new house from the insurance company!

(Just kidding. That would really suck....)
