What wine would you recommend with a steak?

Does it taste well? Ive never had wine with my meal, but am curious to try it.

Yea, im hungry as well. I just got paid so me and my girl are going for a good dish today!

I love seafood, just a bit paranoid bout where our seafood comes from. I live close to the gulf, so idk about quality

Ruths chris steakhouse, sounds like a good place to have a steak.

Whats your best cut of steak?

Ding ding ding! Bone in ribeye is the way to go for the chargrilled taste, and the Bear called it right with the primerib for a big fat rare texas cut piece of heaven. Wow, now I'm hungry. Either of those and a really good bottle of vino make for a great night.

I loves me a good rib eye ... but it's prime rib that is my go-to style of cow. We have a café near here, part of a CA chain, and it serves a good and quite inexpensive prime rib platter. If I had someone to go with, i'd probably go there more often. Make mine "rare" ... it's what actually turns out medium-rare, pink all the way through. Oh yum. cn
i am not a fan of prime rib.. i like my meat pink too, but find prime rib to be disturbing for some reason.. i like me some filet mignon or porterhouse though.. and lobster tail is nice as well..

i've heard that kc has some of the best bbq in the country..

i love the area i live in for food, i'll say that much about the philly area, lots and lots of good eats, close enough to the shore to get good fresh seafood as well.. :D

I love lobster, but the fucking junky lobsters we get here are joke... Tiny as fuck, but the shrimp, thats another story.

Ive always wanted to go to philly just to eat at those two places that are right in front of each others, i think one is called ginos cheese steaks.

Lucky you buddy

yah, geno's and pats are the two you're talking about.. just went to geno's a few weeks ago with a buddy after a concert.. someone walked off with my steak sammich, i was pissed, but the lady gave me a free one as i guess she felt bad..
they're ok, but i still prefer a mom and pop steak sammich over geno's or pat's..

The texture of prime rib is what I like. Of course, I've noticed prime rib can be silky&juicy in the way a grilled steak cannot match ... but there is also the Dark Side when it comes out ... no better word for it ... "mealy". A vaguely crumbly dry texture matched by a reduction in that alive-not-long-ago flavor.

I also love a cheesesteak, but the "Philly" ones I remember had two of my most hated foods: green bell peppers, and grilled onion. Yack. cn

the peppers they had though were i think a sweet pepper.. i'm not sure though as i didn't indulge..

In general terms, "red".
But with a savory steak, an '89 or '90 Hermitage would be the stuff of dreams for me. I remember the '90 Hermitage "La Chapelle" when it was an infant ... awesome. One of the greatest wines I've ever had the privilege to taste. When the First Growths of Bordeaux are firing on all cylinders, they strain to match the mark set by a great Hermitage. Jmo.

I'd laid some down to enjoy in my age, but events turned against me and I had to liquidate my cellar. i had not many bottles, but there were colossi in green glass there. i regret not getting to taste them in their mature vigor. cn

i think it's the way prime rib is cooked that am not crazy about.. i like my steak to taste like it has been cooked proper on a grill..

years ago i used to work at a steak place and they were big on prime rib.. they would cook it slowly for hours and hours in what they called an ultrasham.. i guess it was just a brand name of the oven ... after they would slow cook it, they'd just put it in hot au jus to finish it off to however the customer liked it, ie, rare, mr, etc..
