Day 9

No photo of the girls because I forgot the macro stuff in the studio.

So I took a shot of what I am currently vaping until I harvest.

My girls look healthy, no discoloration or signs of problem.
Never been a big fan of M-39, it always seemed so 'mid-pack' to me.

Although.... that Quebec M-39 looks phenomenal... :D

It's very standard stuff, but it's the best thing we have here. It flowers in 40-42 days (m39 refers to a catalog number, it's a myth it takes 39 days to flowers) so it's a popular commercial strain.

I expect Kali Mist will blow this out of the water.

Day 10

Had a crisis. I think it's nute burn. I drained the whole res and replaced with ph adjusted RO water.

The orange tip is obviously nute burn? But is she dead? She might recover?

It wont die.....Is there a similar 'burnt' marking on the other leaf...looks more like heat stress...?

I've never used rapid rooters...but is there supposed to be that hole around the base like that? I would try and support the base some more. :)

The other is fine.

This one showed signs of burn yesterday but I wasn't too sure and neither were the guys on another forum because it was so small and early:

This was yesterday, but it was barely visible. This is 3x magnification, the tips themselves are barely 2mm, but I did see it, and it happened just as the main root touched the water. I was at 1/4 nute strenght too!

Then this morning I wake up and see the orange burn mark. Temps never went above 83F ever and there is very good airflow in the tent. Can't be heat stress.

I expect the other one is fine because its root never touched the water directly like this one did.

does look more like heat stress.. but im guessing temps are in check since you are running Zeus' setup.

Is it just the camera angle that is making it seem like it is leaning for light? maybe close that hole a little bit.. though biscuit knows a bit more about RR's.

I remember back on one of my first run's I had dropped my PH drops on one my week old seedlings... My whole reality had shattered, but the kiddo was that much stronger.

..How tall are they?? those macro's really throw your depth perception off.. along with a good smoke, fuuuuck... lol

EDIT: yea that looks like beginning signs of heat stress/nute burn..

Over ferting usually starts with leaves curling down (the claw) though

Edit: it was heat stress because the light was too close

Since you guys think it's heat stress I set the temperature on the sentinel 5 degree lower at 78F.

Scotch, you're right man. I diagnosed Ca or B deficiency when I saw those leaves curling up. Not too sure what it is still.

They're about 2-3 inches tall. I'll measure tomorrow.

Hmmm I just checked and the second one is crooked like that too now, 1h later. My light was 2 feet away, I raised it to 36" now.

Maybe the light was too close and coupled with the nutes it just went crazy?

I'll see how they improve in 24h with light at 36" and RO water.

Yes it was the A51-90 at 24"

I put it at 38" now just to be safe

What makes it "too much"? The heat from the narrow beams?

That aught to do it...

I prefer using smaller CFLs for seedlings, 20w or so, for the first 10-15 days from when they break the surface. It's much easier on them. Seedlings do not need that much light at all.

Edit: The too much comes from the narrow beams. Heat should never be a problem using that light unless you didn't have proper ventilation.

It's crooked because my cat went rambo on it while I turned my head away for 2 seconds. It's a F7 Bengal and he's been dying to take a peak inside the tent and I never let him. Maybe he thought it was catnip.
Haha.. The lady friend actually just picked up my Calico from the vet today, and she missed gettin' stoned, on top of her spay meds- she cant walk a straight line. Endur0Xx recently pointed out how much of a pain in the ass cat hair on fresh nugs are.. good thing to keep an eye for down the road.

Since you guys think it's heat stress I set the temperature on the sentinel 5 degree lower at 78F.
Requirements are different in higher concentrations of CO2.. and I have never ran supplement, so I cannot personally speak in either direction.. that being said- I would think that seedlings would require "smaller amounts" of CO2 (as they do nutes and light.) So maybe your temps are high, for seedlings, since they are not using as much CO2 as a vegging mother would. This is all just logical theory.. dont know if there is any truth behind it.

Like Eraserhead said, CFL's are good for starters- but keep it low wattage, they are concentrated spots of light that put off a lot of heat. Keeping a setup of 13-26w CFL's will spread that heat a little more evenly over the light spread- creating even distribution...

Little better alternative would be T5's.. you can get within an inch of the light with the right circulation and be just fine, keeping everything nice and stout.

I banned my cat from the grow. Couldn't find him for a while today. That lil baker some how got in there and passed out under the canopy between plants. I don't think he did anything wrong. At least I hope not. My cat knows he's getting a shower if he f**ks with any plants.

trolololol

Macro photography FTW! :D

Thanks for spotting it! It was barely visible to the naked eye. The light is so blinding!

I stole the gf's tweezers and removed the hair with surgical precision :D
