I'm actually an early-retired Senior Software Engineer/Database Developer. I also developed web sites. I'm also a disabled vet, which is part of why I retired early. But I love anything and everything tech. It's in my genes, I swear, because my dad does the same thing! I've been playing around with 3DS and Sketchup for a while. It's my art, I guess. But I'm waiting a couple months before I start building this, so I had time to really figure out what I want to do, based on all the problems I ran into in the past lol

Anyways, it's going to be one of my "projects". Should be fun to work on.

I'm a member of the VFW so I was working on this voluntarily. This was all built from scratch all by code. Used Photoshop for some of the graphics.

What he said absolutely phenomenal lay out in the way you did that blows my mind I'm far from being retired and have no idea how to do any of those things computer wise. I had to do a double take on my smart phone is it actually looks real Lol

Well, that explains it. I'm 5.5 yrs away from retirement, and can't wait to start my botanical hobbies full time in a warmer clime.

I look forward to your future grows, if you plan on journaling.

Yes, I think I'm going to journal it. Never did one, but this project's so big, I'm sure I'll have some questions along the way. And I'd like to explain all the plumbing and the purpose of have 3 huge reservoirs, for those who may be new. I'm an engineer at heart and love working my way through challenges. If a noob can gain some knowledge from some of that then I'm giving back what I've taken from RIU through the years. :-)

I thought you knew what it was sorry. The photo you first posted looks identical to 80/20 extrusion. Amazon ships the bars up to 8 feet in length. The shipping is sort of high but doesn't increase with multiple items. Your best bet is to buy more than enough the first time. T-slot hardware for connecting them, corner brackets, end caps, t-slot covers are all available. The covers are perfect for hiding the wiring and making a chase way.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words :-)

I think if it was 10 years ago I may have thought about it, but I just don't have the energy to work on anything but my own projects, and at a slower pace. I deal with a lot of chronic pain from military injuries as well as Fibromyalgia.

But I don't care about money. I'd rather provide the blueprints and the guidance to others for free. "Thanks" are much more valuable to me...and that's after having a six-figure income far quite a while :-)

That's awesome! How much do the heatsinks weigh? I was curious about whether side-mounting them on one rail would hold up.

Yeah, those are some pretty sweet plates. I was going to ask the same. If I needed them and they didn't exist, I was just going to make my own template and send it to a WaterJet company online.

The cross pieces were cut from a waterjet. I have really been looking into buying a smaller unit to do little projects like this. Not 100% sure on the weight, possibly 2-3 lbs. northern growlights has the best prices on heatsinks. Also shares the most popular cobs with cobkits.

I'd imagine they'd hold up on a single side, especially if I go a little overboard and go with 3/4". I'll check those places out. Thanks.

Along with this one, I was planning on building one of the cross rails for my mother's in the 2'x4' closet. On a dimmer I could control their growth then turn it up a week before im ready to cut some clones. I'm going to be growing them via "bonsai mums" style.

That's what growmau5 did. I think he used big blue saw. Somewhere here he left the info to make more off of his print already in existence.

I cut my 3X wide 20 series 80/20 with a carbide tipped 10" chop saw , lub the piece well (WD40) & yer blade
clamp well or lose yer fingers
cut very slowly
eye protection as the AL chips will fly
will not damage the saw blade IF U cut slowly & lube
