Nothing gives i saw 23 Watt 2700K cfl's at walmart for 96 cent's. 99Cent's sounds about right. I don't see those specials running constantly so take advantage of it while you see it.

But those 23 watts cfl's don't put out enough light, you're better off just paying the money for the largest ones they have.
42w actual, 2600 lumens, 120w equiv.

Using these gives more heat than they do useable light.

See thats the thing.. I always see "Dont look at watts, look at lumens"

But, if I use a 42w(150w equiv) 2700Lumens it will have better light penetration than a 23w(100w equiv) RIGHT??

Yeah because the intensity is higher but alot of CFL's use 23 Watt bulbs because you can literally almost touch the plant with it and it wont get burned as long as you have a fan blowing on it.

Yes you get better penetration with 42w vs 23w, but even the 42w only has strong light within about 4" of the bulb.

23w is only good within about 2" of the bulb, which is just not enough, but you CAN use them if you want.

The yield will just suffer.

I have to disagree cuz I've used both and 23w has better lumen/watt ratio and run cooler than 42w plus they are cheaper even when they're not on sale... Also it's best to mix spectrums and have it 80% 2700K and 20% 6500K when flowering and opposite mix of more blue than red when in veg...

i would never urge someone to flower with these.

Cfl's do in fact work. i only use them for cloning though.

Even the larger CFL 200 watts work.........

But does a professional Chef use the Easy bake oven????????????

See it's guys like you that just don't get it.... LED and CFL's produce way better quality bud it's a fact... HID produce quantity and I'm not saying that HID produce shitty bud cuz thats not the case at all... read my thread in the CFL area called The Truth on Fluoro vs HID

Fucking shit. I didnt ask a fucking thing about CFL vs NOT CFL...

If you dont like CFLs for a full grow then great.. Keep that part to yourself. Its just going to start a god damn war....

The question wasnt "should I use CFLs?"

Right on ICurbYou. Some of us just can't afford the heat/noise of hid, if I could use them I would, but I can't. My little cfl box keeps me a buzzing, which is what it is all about.

I use a mixture of 26 and 42, but the 42s put out a good deal of heat, so take your pick and see what combo works for you and your grow.
