feminized seeds

hi people.
quick question. ive never used seeds before because ive had a good supply of clones from a friend but want to grow a different stain. was looking at some seeds on the net and they are feminised. now i know they say they are female seeds but is this really true or is it still a waiting game to see what sex they are after they start to flower??
