FERO 336x3W and more, perpetual 12-12

Hello everyone,

I have been experimenting with leds for quite some time, I got all kinds of small units from various makers. (FERO,HSS,Blackstar and Diamond series) I had in my room 2 x 400w hids and leds for supplemental light. I just took the 2 HIDs out of the room and will be replacing them with a FERO FeroMax 336x3w LED http://www.feroledlighting.com/336x3w-led/.

Its just starting and things might change, but for now, we got FERO FeroMax 336x3W(draws 540w) (that one is there to stay!!), my previous FERO 180 (draws about 135w),the diamond series 100W and the HSS 90W. So about 800W LEDs, I am using about 300watts less than before. The room is 4x5 and I usually have about 5-6 plants going, just enough pot for a chronic like me.

I grow in supersoil, I got good results with my first recipe(see pictures of my freshly harvested bud), now I changed a few ingredients, I think I improved it a bit. Time will tell.

View attachment 2173178View attachment 2173175View attachment 2173176View attachment 2173174

To start, I got 2 Chemdog (10gallons containers) for sure and 3 k-train (will go in nursery pots, I believe they are 7gallons). Coming up is 1 Acapulco gold and 1 Jack the Ripper(only got the 1 seed so hopefully it's a female!!) I will get a few Sativas going shortly as soon as I get the seeds.

One plant in the room is about 2 weeks to harvest while the revegged one might be another month, I might move the revegged one elsewhere so we have a fresh start with the lights.

I will be busy for the boring period so I will not update this journal so often during the first month, feel free to ask questions! Thanks for watching

About the light: Just got the light in the mail yesterday(was shipped within 4 days!), the light is very well built (by far the best that I have, no mess of glue inside the light, nothing weird, just a solid clean light), fairly heavy (need some good hooks!!), and bright as fuck...also high-low intensity button that I will never use  .

Oh God or God's treat that is, who knows but it looks damn good!! Now that's what I call a Golf Balls Harvest!!! I am only getting going with my new setups over here and this plant was not even close to the light the whole cycle. I am very VERY satisfied with the amount of trichromes I am getting so far.

It will dry out to be pretty close to 2 oz which is very good for me for an Indica 12/12 from seed.

Dr. Grinspoon update, I re-topped them before transplant 2 days ago, doing well...
IMG_8369.jpg

Agent Orange is getting there, I just realised the camera was on different setting so I couldnt really zoom in on those, the buds are looking very nice though and they are getting really frosty/heavy.
IMG_8390.jpgIMG_8382.jpg

The 2 small Oh Gods are almost ready, maybe a day or 2
IMG_8387.jpg

I saw PM on the 2 Gods Lemon Skunk that are in the same container (right on the picture) very small amount I sprayed lemon mix on them, I think I might kill them because they are so small and young still so why fighting...
IMG_8381.jpg

At the same time I am thinking of using this room after I harvest a few more plants to grow the plants that I have seen any sign of PM on them all together. I look very carefully every day and everything looks good in the tent since improving airflow and doing the lemon spray, the 2 Agent Orange in the 10gallons have never shown any sign of it ever thank god.
IMG_8370.jpgIMG_8375.jpgIMG_8373.jpgIMG_8372-2.jpgIMG_8372.jpg

K-Trains are going to take forever again with their putrid smell!! I will let them go until they are ready this time around and will enjoy smoking this strain a lot more, also no popcorn buds this time, just nice tops!

I got up early this morning I thought I would try to take better pics of Agent Orange. I didnt really get anything good, a few shots that are better than last night. I ll have to wait to harvest day to get better pictures, she is right under the light and with the fans its just not working!! There are 3 buds that have slight slight bleach on their top (pea size), funny things is they are lower buds, that happened after I put the Kessil in the corner totally overlapping the 600. So yeah I will have to move it, no point in having more lights directly under the 600  I think I will use the Kessil in my new space in the corners to finish plants that won't finish.

GOOD MORNING everyone :bigjoint:

OH GOD, it's over... overall went well, they were smaller than the last one I harvested but considering they were 2 of them sharing the container, they did well. I wouldnt mind growing this strain again with some vegging time, I could see it being a heavy yielder. The finish product looks amazing, I am looking forward to trying them out.
IMG_8457.jpgIMG_8458.jpgIMG_8461.jpgIMG_8460.jpgIMG_8462.jpgIMG_8460-2.jpgIMG_8459.jpgIMG_8459-2.jpg

I am starting to work on bringing down my plant counts, so this will be my last full run of 12/12 from... well as you can see its not from seeds this time but for some of them its pretty damn close! so yeah we have 2 AF-600 now running at 50-70% for 12 hours a day, see what happens!!! I know it might seem like a waste of power for some, but come back in 2 weeks  (IMO this is the crucial part of 12/12 from seed if you want heavy yield, big container early on to develop massive healthy root system before they start budding)
IMG_8407.jpgIMG_8408.jpgIMG_8409.jpg

A few shots of the tent ,I just realised the camera was still on those weird setting, I am so not the photographer in the family!! it worked out though, I was able to save a few pics with decent quality. The 2 Agent Orange at the back are starting to put on some weight, and the buds are getting smelly and super frosty... and it's early!

Thanks Puff, I am feeling pretty good about the new setup,

The footprint is around 24sq/ft, so 1200watts over 24sq/ft = 50Watts per sq/ft. I got about 18sq/ft for fan/equipment and room for me to move around!!

So that should be a full 24sq/ft of big buds each round. I am hoping I can get 1lbs per light 12/12 from seed... Later this winter I will do the run for the yield and see what kind of GPW I can get if I veg my plants. For now, let's get some quick results shall we :bigjoint:

EDIT The footprint is not 4x4 x 2 lights because the room is only 6' wide.

My partner is gone for the week and she took off with her Canon camera

I looked around the house and found the old point and shoot, I dont know how to set it and the pictures arent that great sorry.

I do want to show you all something pretty cool, ''HashTips'' I had never heard of it until tonight, http://www.growery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/481860 So you can see what they say about it. As far as I can tell looking it them with the microscope, it really looks like a bunch of trichs...

Its on the Agent orange on 2 buds and on the main bud on one of the K-train

A few shot of my outdoor plant almost dry. we shared 3 ways I think we probably got over 5oz including the popcorn buds. She had quite a bit of PM and we did the h2o2 bath and it seems to have work really well but I am still not sure I want to smoke it hehe nor give it away... Anyway, she wasnt quite ready but it was time, she is pretty frosty now that I look at her again. We had a male in the greenhouse for a while (I wasnt around and I was growing this plant for a actual patient on his property. Every time I would show up something was going wrong hehe...) so anyway when I showed up and I saw the male I thought WTF!!! and moved it out carefully I could see the pollen falling off like crazy, well I only found 5 seeds while harvesting and now I wish there were more!!! The female was SMILE cross with unknown male but anyway I am looking forward to grow them out I love the smell of this strain.

Interesting choice in strains, Dr.Grinspoon is a strange one from what I've seen and read lol.

Quick question on LED lights, are they expensive to buy and expensive to run? Thanks.

I moved a few plants around in the tent, I was surprised at how big they have gotten and how big they look when they are not all squished together. Remember that in the tent I am running the 336x3 only and I believe it draws 540watts (I dont see it on their website anymore...) I am very happy with what I am getting, I am having a hard time quitting 12/12 from seeds when I see plants like this!! I get to smoke so many different strain and THC profile I really enjoy this style of growing... I am addicted :bigjoint:

I got the AOs that are in the 10 gallons near the door because they will probably come out first... trying to even out the canopy.

I think I have 2 different phenos, I am not sure, one of the 2 seems to have smaller buds and the hairs are starting to turn brown like it going to be ready way before they other while the other doesnt seem to be nearly done fattening and hairs are almost 100% white... hard to tell though because I was just starting my seeds at random days so all my Agent Orange might have been popped at different days...
IMG_6330-2.jpgIMG_6343-2.jpgIMG_6335.jpg

The Chemo from jordan of the Island impregnated by AO male that I manage to keep alive outside near the end of the summer. 'hoping to get a few seeds not sure it worked...
IMG_6333.jpg

More Agent Orange (that strain does really well 12/12 from seed I highly recommend it for any first timer at 12/12 from seed)
IMG_6332-3.jpgIMG_6332-2.jpgIMG_6331-2.jpg

Either Chemdog or K-Train from the seeds I had in my buds last run and I am watching for balls and so far so good, I think I might have gotten a bunch of fem seeds from light leaks!?

I know !! I am looking forward to look at the buds closely under normal lights, I will do my best to get some good close ups pictures on harvest day.

expensive to buy it's relative, upfront cost it can be expensive but the fact you can run them for years without changing bulbs makes up for it. The fact that I could grow through the summer basically paid for them... I recommend buying high quality and good warranty, dont cheap out on the LEDs or else you should stick with HIDs.

They are cheaper to run than HIDs

Just a little update, not much is happening, most plant were stress from topping them (attempting main-lining the best I can 12/12 from babies) So they have not changed much in the last week. The Dr.Grinspoon were completely stunted but finally they are starting to show new growth, I think they will get huge.

Also the room is going to be great for flowering and right now I dont really want to change anything but it is a bit cold for them babies, I hope they will veg fine regardless.

Just a big update, I got the better camera tonight and I tried to get better pics of the Hashtips ... and just a bunch of pics of my gardens... I will guide you through :blsmoke:

THE TENT
IMG_8495.jpgIMG_8509.jpgIMG_8508.jpg
I didnt really keep track of when I started each seeds in the tent... and it`s a bit all over the place , pretty much each plant is at a different stage, things are coming along beautifully though and things are getting heavier... The Chemo is looking pretty good for a little indica, I so hope I am gonna get some seeds because I think it would be a beautiful cross between AO male and Chemo female.

AO

Chemo
IMG_8504.jpgIMG_8497.jpg

Even the popcorn buds on the AO are covered with trichs and it`s early!!

The ROOM
IMG_8551.jpgIMG_8552.jpgIMG_8554.jpg

Agent Orange (anyone wants to take a guess at her weight!? I will be very happy with 4 oz but she is starting to look like 5 oz to me ... what do you guys think!?
IMG_8528.jpgIMG_8522-2.jpgIMG_8529.jpgIMG_8530.jpgIMG_8530-2.jpgIMG_8532.jpgIMG_8520.jpgIMG_8546.jpgIMG_8548.jpg

God Lemon`s skunk
IMG_8538.jpg

This should be AO but it certainly doesnt look like it so I have no idea what that is, it has the shape of an indica so it could be from Jordan of the Island, ... who knows!!
IMG_8539.jpg

Violator Kush
IMG_8540.jpg

Blue City Diesel from Jordan of the Island, I think the soil was way too hot and they had a weird start but are recovering now, they are hanging under the AO ... they cant wait for her to be harvested and finally get some direct light!!!
IMG_8543.jpg

Channel+
IMG_8541.jpg

HashTips!! ( on the AO )
IMG_8521-2.jpgIMG_8521.jpgIMG_8522.jpg

The K-trains are taking forever once again, this time I was better prepared, they sure look better than the previous run and the buds are pretty big. There isnt much on the sugar leaves but the buds are COVERED with mini-trichromes, it`s a very different strain that`s for sure. One of the 2 looks like it will be ready a week or so before the other (they were both started the same day!...)
IMG_8549.jpgIMG_8537.jpgIMG_8534.jpgIMG_8535.jpg

And finally, here is a quick peak at my veg cabinet, pretty cool to be growing buds in my veg cabinet! Thanks to Campo for Petite Blanche, it`s my first time growing autos and they didnt have the greatest start but they are very healthy and are starting to smell pretty good!! They are mostly under the Kessil and I think it could be why they didnt veg so well, this and the fact that they were neglected early on... anyway it feels like free weed coming from the veg cabinet hehe!!

Hey Mr E Yeah for sure they are a little small but shit it happened to me a few times normally over watering is the cause when they are young but what I do find when I mess them up early and they only grow to about 8" is the buds tend to be huge and dense the more light they get the bigger they get
Hey dude I've been following your grow for a few months now and the results you are getting and I am pig sick jealous in all the variety you are getting with strains I wouldn't even attempt I think Im a hairball away of getting a 2x2 homebox tent and growing a couple of interesting strains from 12/12 although I would probably start them for the first couple of weeks in a bubbler as I found thats the trick to growing the autos big if you dont mind I thought I would post a pic of whats possible with the Petite Blanche once you get them dialed in

The fact we are using such a good led system really helps big shout to Fero keep up the good work
just keep on doing what you are doing bruv Im loving every minute of it ;)

Endur0xX, just wondering how you handle the watering when using smart pots (grow bags), what to do with what comes out of the bottom of the bag.
Do you sit the grow bag in a dish or something when watering?

Yes I have saucers in one room and in the other room I have a tarp that goes up on the edge of the wall all around, I want to buy pond lining and cover the floor with that ... if you have them on a tarp they are pretty clean, the runoff goes right back in ... but you wouldnt want them on wood without saucers.

I learned not that long ago that it is best to keep an even moisture in the soil through the grow, so I have been trying to do this lately, I used to do the dry/wet cycle but I hear that it is best not to let the soil dry too much in organic cultivation. I know the wet/dry cycles has always worked really good for me and I am careful not to overwater, there is a fine line. The wet/dry cycle makes more sense with the bottled nutrients. But I definitely think that those smart pot are way harder to over-water.

Your garden is lookin mighty chunky Enduro. I see you are strating some mainlining with some new plants, I've found it to be fun bending and cutting to get it where you want it. I have a couple plants that I have got in flower now that I did 8 tops on and I have one in veg that I am going for 16 with. It is definately a different way to grow and I hope more rewarding in the end. Keep up the good growing.
