I've read that lenses degrade light output by like 3% ish but it seems to me that not using them might also degrade output because of increased light dispersion. Seems lenses would focus the light better than without thus making up for a small output loss? Do you use reflectors with your lenses?
From what I've read you're right. Reflectors absolutely cause light degradation because they partially absorb photons. I think in a smaller tent you would really not want reflectors since you're not really losing light to open space.

That's weird. Everything I've ever seen or read stated that reflectors make your footprint smaller and more focused. Could you link an article that supports your statement?
If you're referring to my statements above, they are personal observations based on the two modules running right next to one another, one with 80 degree lenses and the other bare, with no reflector.

I'm not making any claims other than the results of personal observation in this limited circumstance.

I love how people keep asking me to prove my assertions but never ask why I make them in the first place.

Did you not see the quote in my post? If you did you would have known it was not directed at you.

1-3%

Other variables, make them about as efficient, as without, in different types of spaces....

What is your experience using reflectors?

I don't think I'll be using any reflectors anytime soon. I plan on keeping the cobs running soft and close to the canopy with no reflectors. Maximum spread.

CXB3590 3500K CD bin 72V, 700ma, the Meanwell HLG-185H-C700B driver gives each of 4 COBs 54W with the dimming wires capped. Each module pulls at total of 224W from the wall, anywhere between 110V-277V. I planned for 824 PPfD across the whole array.

I'm totally down to compare n contrast, because you're running a slightly different setup and getting more PPfD than me?

I should be getting a slightly higher PPFD. I'm running 36v 3500k @ 1050ma. Supra said the driver should go up to 1150 ma.
Cool ip65 connectors ,very nice work man.:smile:
BUT..i see you take grounding from drivers case,and sins its anodized and not conductive u better take it from ac side
:bigjoint::peace:
Grounded both sides :)

@WestDenverPioneer

What was the cost for the build so far?
About $1100 more or less plus quite a bit of time :) keep in mind I have a good amount of extra electrical what not lying around. Lots of extra wire etc. Doing a much larger build overall.

Just looking at sinks, COBs and drivers its about $850 or so. Electric parts added up. Plus I changed my mind a few times before I found an electric set up I felt good about (safety and looks).

Thanks for asking

Buddy put the unit in his 5x5 tent and sent me this picture last night. Starting day 8 of flower.

Seems to be running dimmer than it did at my house. Noticed on the meanwell specs that the drivers only allow 2 psus per 16 amp breaker. He had them all plugged into the same outlet with a surge protector.

Is it likely he needs to run the third bar to a different breaker? I'm putting mine direct to a subpanel, he wants to use existing outlets.

Any thoughts?

This is where a Kill-a-watt meter comes in handy. I just switched my setup to 240v and everything is running cooler.
I agree completely. I just don't want to play concierge doctor at this point. I just want to finish MY lights at this point :)

Oh well...cest la vie

JP thanks for the info on the pricing. It looks like the market for production LED lights is getting close to the price of DIY to build a good light. Interesting how it will work out for me when I decide what to do for my next lighting project.
