Finally Flipped

First timer.
After 5 months, 2 from seed, 2 flowering clones. I've finally got (what I think is) healthy plants.
Heat, over/underwatering, pests, improper feeding & property inspections. they really are hard to kill.
6 days into 12/12

They look like they are in a very healthy vegitative state ready to bud. Excellent job!

Good work on sticking with it.

12/1 ? Typo?

If not you need 12 hours lights on and 12 hours lights off, total darkness.

What sort of pests are you dealing with / have delt with?

Definitely a typo. 12/12
Thrips and aphids.
They preferred my pepper plants i had but were eating everything. I covered the room with a "tomato dust" which was spinosad, copper and sulphur dust.

Washed all plants & moved the others outside when I up potted. Even the ones outside are pest free.

The dust kinda stuck to the leaves even after a shower (i didnt want to shower them as heavily as my peppers). In the last month I've removed all old leaves lst and hst. These girls are pretty tough.

Today marks 1 full week and I think I'll need to do another trim in the next week.

Because they are so old and 2 are clones from a plant in flower the amount of nodes and leaf growth is insane.

Any advice?

I'm reading multiple methods, defoliate before flip, between week 0 & 3, then last time at week 3.
Others suggest before flip, week 3 and only light fan leaf removal after.

I'm almost tempted to just trial both methods?

I could be wrong and you may want to research this but I believe copper is very bad for you if inhaled, I imagine smoking any residual from it would not be good for you at all..
That was over a month ago and I have since trimmed ALL old leaves .

I did have a look again at the sds, fire Decomposition: Only small quantities of decomposition products are expected from this product at temperatures normally achieved in a fire. Combustion forms carbon dioxide, and if incomplete, carbon monoxide and possibly smoke. Water is also formed. May form oxides of sulfur (sulfur dioxide is a respiratory hazard) and other sulfur compounds. Most will have a foul odour. May form hydrogen chloride gas, other compounds of chlorine. Carbon monoxide poisoning produces headache, weakness, nausea, dizziness, confusion, dimness of vision, disturbance of judgment, and unconsciousness followed by coma and death.

This is in the event of a storage fire. I doubt there will be any residue left in the final product, its all new growth and im not going to be smoking for the most part anyway. It's very bad for aquatic life though.

If you still think there is a bigger risk than I'm expecting and you have any suggestions on where to research please let me know.

I mostly abide by: If it ain't sick, don't pick.

Those fan leaves are your plant's energy factories during flowering (all the time really) and also serve as a nutrient reserve in case of a deficiency (the plant will pull the nutes it's low on out of the lower leaves and transport them to the upper leaves to save those leaves).

I do remove sap suckers however (tiny stems with few nodes near the bottom of the plant that will produce no/tiny buds) before the flip.

I never do any pruning whatsoever after the flip to minimize stress.

The only time I've removed good fan leaves was when two (or more) were touching and there was visible water (like droplets) forming on and between them. Then I remove one of the two that are touching.

I'm not advocating my method as the "correct" one, as opinions on this topic range far and wide in the grower community - just saying what I do and what has worked for me.

What is your primary motivation for wanting to defoliate - get more light to the lower leaves/nodes to increase the yield?

I should have removed more suckers but I didn't know how crazy things would go after flip. There are also some that I would have removed that are going gangbusters now.

There are so many variables, I'm not sure any one can claim there is a "right" way.

Im looking for more light, mars tsw2000 probably too weak for the coverage once the stretch is done. But, my main concern is airflow. I'm running 70-73% humidity, air is drawing from glass louvres and door leaks to out side. Expecting some hot weather in a month and not much I can do about it.
Most of it will go to edibles anyway. If I make it through all the other potential issues and don't end up with PM.

Yes, that's what can happen after you re-veg from flower - "gangbusters" of shoots and nodes.

I agree. What may be "right" for you with your setup might be "wrong" for my setup and yet "mediocre" for a third guy's setup.

It's always better imo to increase light than pick leaves to get deeper canopy penetration (more light to the lower buds).

That RH is too high. You should consider either a more powerful exhaust fan for more airflow or a dehumidifier. With that amount of humidity your at risk for all kinds of fungi (rot). Bud rot, stem rot, mold, low transpiration leading to slower growth and root rot etc.

Good luck.

Im running ac infinity 6". With a large outdoor hanging fan for circulation inside. Was possibly planning on putting another fan on the floor.

Dehumidifier won't help much because it's drawing humid air from outside.

Luck is what I need.

Any update photos on how flowering is going ? You had much of a stretch out of them ?
Here's some progression photos of 1 plant.
The numbers are the date they were taken with the last ones taken today.
I did some lst early on, ended up doing some defoliation also.
It's about 10cm of new growth so far in 9 days. Will probably slow it down a little with the defoliation.
