my valuebrite bottom of the line reflector is very close to the wall and might even touch it in one spot...running a 400watt MH or a 400watt HPS is it possiple for the alluminum to get so hot that it burns or melts the wall?

i dont think your 400 could ever produce enough heat to even begin to do something like that. Maybe direct bulb contact or something. But stuff like that leaves me uneasy. Feel how hot it is. You should be able to make a good choice...if it feels to hot then it is :) peace oout

Many people have used these lights in their homes with no problems what so ever for thousands of hours. Good safety measures (Murphy's Law) are to have smoke alarms inside and just outside of your grow area. Especially if your grow area is in your basement have a smoke alarm positioned so you will be able to hear it from the upstairs bedroom.
