First dwc grow any advice appreciated.

Hello all this is my first post here and am pretty new to growing. I have a small cab closet grow and was looking into something to allow the plants to get bigger. The grow space is going to be either 4feet x4 x8 or 4x5x8. Should I go with a 600w or 1000w hps/mh system, what wattage of light would be better? I plan on having two plants too start in 5 gallon pails with 6" net pots usuing DWC with 2 air stones in each resevoir. What size air stones would you reccomend? Any changes to help make the dwc system work better would be appreciated so I can get an exact idea on what I should do.

600w would be more efficient while still giving you one hell of a yield. As far as the air stones, just get 2 that are gonna produce small bubbles and please get a good pump to push the amount of bubble that you need. for example if your rez is 5gallons get a pump that is for a 100gal tank, believe me it wont be overkill.

If you can explain why I would need a pump because wouldn't the roots just sit in the oxgenated water, what would be the purpuse o pumping water? Sorry just want to ge a good understanding

Yes you need to aerate, and you need to fertilize your plants. I tried to go with Canadian Tire (everyday fertilizers) nutes and it did not work, even though I used a TDS meter (Total Disolved Solides meter).

I've been using a system of nutes from a local supplier and they rock. I suggest that you find a hydro store and follow their advise, because they are there to help you.

Just follow the directions on the labels. And, as everyone says on here, start with a 1/4 of the suggested nutes and then gauge things from there. Take your time. Your plants can be very patient. You should be patient as well.

I recommend reading up on how DWC systems work before going any further.

I feel like i have a basic understanding on how DWC systems work, Airstones in the water oxygenating the water that the roots sit in. Its just theirs many different ways on how people go about it so i just wanted to know if I was on the right track. For my cab grow I use technaflora nutes and things are going good so far. Well i guess ill find out in 4 more weeks, I am in my 5th week of flowering tomorrow.
