looking very nice! ive always wanted to do a bubbleponic set up but i thought it might be too complicated for my first grow.

i have some easyryders in soil right now a few weeks behind yours. check out the link in my sig
Hey weedfiend, thanks for stopping by. I checked out your journal -- looking great! I'm subbed.

Looking good! I am considering a PC case grow.

I do have one question:

How is the odor control going? I see you are using a Bionaire Carbon Replacement Filters. Is that working for you?
Odor control is... well, let's just say my room smells like cannabis pretty much all the time whether I've been smoking or not. Until this point that has been fine... to friends I can chalk it up to having just smoked a bowl. But if my landlord or my parents stops by... Let's just say I'm still working on a solution.

Of three concurrent attempts at solutions, none work particularly well. I first tried filtering my intake/exhaust fans through carbon filters. It doesn't appear to do much besides block a little light and restrict a little airflow. These were just sort of an experiment. If I want it to actually work I'll have to make an inline carbon scrubber. The only problem here is stealth... where would I put it? I'll be on the lookout for small, powerful, quiet inline fans that I might be able to fit in a narrow cylindrical scrubber vertically mounted on the back of the PC.

Second, I tried using an odor neutralizing gel (not ONA) which gave the room a fresh overtone for a few days, but then I think I just got used to it and I barely smell it anymore. I may pickup some ONA or more "industrial" type odor neutralizer.

Finally, I picked up two Fresh2Ti bulbs which supposedly help neutralize odors. I have one in the case and one in the lamp on my bedstand which I keep on often. They don't appear to work well enough to make a noticeable difference in my room.

Basically, if you're looking for low smell I wouldn't go with Easy Ryder unless you have a well-thought-out odor control plan.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them!

im surprised 1 plant is able to produce such a noticeable smell. but yes, i've heard good things about ona gel and I plan on using it, but its a bit expensive and I'm trying to find a cheaper alternative.

Hey guys,

Just a really quick update here with numbers and a picture from last night.

Numbers:

pH: 5.9
PPM: 1150

Looking good after I added ~1.5L of full strength flowering nutrients.

Thanks for the info. I own my own home and my wife is cool. I could get away with just setting up an Aerogarden out in the open in my home office for 95% of the time. However, I do have my step-kids (mid-20's) and other relatives that come stay with us from time to time, especially around the holidays so I have to be kinda stealthy about it.

I don't think I'd be a fan of the ONA products – I used to carry Ozium 3000 spray in the car when I was young and dumb and liked to party on the road. I am assuming that ONA smells about the same. I hear it works great but I just don't want my house to have that chemical smell like I am covering something up. My wife sprays Fabreeze when I really "cloud up" the place and I don't even like that smell.

I did a search here on the Forums for any information on odor-neutralizing CFLs. The general consensus is that they don't work and may even be detrimental to your plants as they emit ozone by heating up the Titanium Oxide coating to neutralize the odor. Also, obviously they only work when the lights are on.

Hey man, everything looks great. Have you looked into the DIY carbon scrubbers? Check out this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/101248-best-diy-ez-walmart-carbon.html

I think thats the solution I'm going with because the size would be perfect for the back of my PC case.

Wolfman Zen's grow journal was one of the first ones I read and his carbon filter is ingenious (too bad he doesn't post on here anymore). That is what got me thinking about cabinet/PC grows and having the exhaust air scrubbed in some way rather than having it removed from the room. Like I said, my wife is pretty cool but I’m not sure she’d appreciate me cutting a 6”-8” hole in the ceiling of one our spare bedroom closets and vent into the attic. Plus, for my medical needs, I don’t need all that much product.

I'll be watching your grow.

Hello again,

I'll start with some replies to comments.

Hey brandon, thanks a ton for the awesome link! That is a really great design.

Oooh yep :). She sure does smell. Keep me posted on your decision! If you haven't checked it out yet from any of the talk above, I'd definitely look at Wolfman Zen's DIY Carbon Scrubber. It seems like the concept can be sized for just about any grow.

Thanks for the detailed reply! Your assessment of the odor-neutralizing CFLs seems to be spot on. Props for pointing out that Wolfman Zen link again! :D Good to have you on board.

what are you guesstimating for your yield?
im hoping to get between a quap and 6 zips for my 6 easys
It's hard to say. I haven't seen anyone take a setup quite like mine all the way to completion. Without a direct comparison I'm really not sure what to expect, but based on the look and feel of my plant I don't think 1.5-2oz is out of the question; I'd be happy with anything over an ounce. I designed this grow for absolute maximum yield from one plant in a micro space. I've made a few mistakes, but hopefully I'll get close to that limit and we can see what is really possible in a PC case.

Numbers:

pH: 5.8
PPM: 1600

My pH was fine without any additions. PPM is much higher than expected (though I suppose I didn't take any measurements for the last couple nights). I have some RO water coming to room temperature now which I will use to top off the reservoir and bring down my PPM as soon as possible. The plant is still looking great, but I'll be keeping an eye out for any burn over the next couple days.

I opened up my case this morning and couldn't believe how much more full and crystal-coated she is than just a day or two ago. You can't really see it in the wide angle photo; I'll try to get some nice closeup bud shots about once a week so you can see how she is progressing.

Have a nice day.

very nice looking so far... it'll be inetersting to follow and see how it comes out...
Thanks, bobhamm! Glad you could join us.

Numbers:

pH: 6.25
PPM: 1100

I added ~1L of RO water (with pH adjusted appropriately) to my reservoir and achieved these numbers about six hours later. Looking good.

Here she is:

Hey all,

Simple stuff tonight. No big news.

Numbers:

pH: 5.6
PPM: 1300

PPM is getting a bit high again. I'll do something about it tomorrow when I have some time to spare. I'll probably run a full flush cycle this weekend.

The plant is looking swell, as per usual! Nothing out of the ordinary. There doesn't appear to be any obvious negative feedback as a result of the high TDS levels yesterday. The plant's aroma profile has taken on some additional qualities recently: a much more floral skunkiness with a hint of trash. She's pungent when you get up close!

Just watching her bloom and counting down the days...

G'night.

ill keep checking back into here and see how its goin,

p.s im in that same conundrum of trying to mask smell.

Hey guys,

Thanks for checking in! I'm glad you like what you see. I definitely do. I can't believe I'm going to be harvesting this girl in just three or four weeks time!

p.s im in that same conundrum of trying to mask smell.
Hey garageflower. I checked out your thread. Very nice! I'm subbed. Also, I plan on making a carbon scrubber soon. I'll keep you posted with the details when I know them.

I just read through your entire thread, first of all mad props for the clean and efficient case and your grow is awesome so far...cant wait to see what the final yield is.

Very nice of you to say, BMWEATER. Thanks for joining! I'm looking forward to finding that out as well :).

Numbers:

pH: 6.3
PPM: 1000

I added some RO water to my reservoir this morning to even it out a bit before I flush this weekend.

After doing some leaf rearrangement earlier, I noticed that my fingers were getting sticky with resin. It smells so good! Similar to pine tree sap... but more mouthwatering. The buds are showing some definite development. I expect them to start fattening up within the next week or so. I'd like to see a bit more vertical growth first... but I imagine they will keep packing on vertical growth as the buds are getting denser. So I'm not too worried. Currently I have about 4-6 inches between my lights and the top of the canopy.

Have a good one!

hey hows it going!

Could you help me out with my grow? We have similar res sizes and im finding out my ppm and pH jump each day. I'm thinking it has to do with the small res size and water evaporation causing a higher concentration of nutes. Does this happen to you as well? Also, what is your res temp? thanks!

So I was lurking the forum as I have been doing for a while now and I signed up to the site mostly due to your thread aggreenvln. I'm thinking about gutting my antec 1200 (prolly will use a different case, I love this one lol) and trying this with some bag seed. Excellent job, shes looking great! Ill be watching :D

ninja edit> Also, thanks to everyone on here for sharing such great information. Im learning quite a bit.
