First Grow 2 Liter?

Im growing some Northern Lights, and they're supposed to stay short and what not due to pure indica genes, and I'm growing them in 2 liter bottles.

How big do you think they can grow in a 2-liter? could this be whats causing them to stay so small? They are about 4 inches in height after 24 days from germination.

I don't know if i want to upgrade my pot, because of my limited grow space. Flowering room is bigger, this is my veg room, ill probably never have more than 4 ladies in here.

They look pretty good but yeah, I would put them in 3gal pots at least.

And try to keep those leaves of the soil.

OMG is that your temps..bring them down they probably have heat stress...65-75 degrees buddy!!!

Go with bigger pots

Ok well good luck, you have heat stress and small pots..lol..not a prob just control those temps w/a fan or an a/c unit..lol..and transplant...back to my game 'Sniper Elite V2'

I understand that a bigger pot will make my plant get bigger and yield more, but i don't really want huge plants due to limited grow space, I'm growing in an 18 gal storage bin. But thank you for the info! I will at some point probably need it

If U must grow in a small pot try an air pot or a smart pot they will help the roots some.These plants will surely become root bound.Flowering now will help the roots.U also can run a knife around the edge of the pot to trim some of the circling roots when they do become bound. My guess is these plants will go 14 to 18 inches and produce about 3/4oz dried.Let us readers know how they turn out. 1 plant topped and trained in a bigger pot is better than 4 in small pots IMO.

overgrowem- Thanks for the heads up about my babies getting root bound. I think I'm going to flower soon, I just want to wait some so i can get a few clones from them. Is it possible to clone after flowering stage? And ill definitely let everyone know how they turn out! they seem healthy and even a 3/4 oz yield per would make me happy

You n me both. I usually get about 3/4 to 1 1/4oz in a 8inch round n deep pot. I like small grows.

Heres a quick update. Ive stabilized the temps at 68-75F, and they have secondary growth at the initial nodes, are these growths going to be what i eventually take as cuttings (clones)?


One of them is staying much smaller than the other still, but has the exact same number of nodes, and leaves and stuff. And for experimental purposes i decided to top the shorter one, however I'm not sure i did it right, kind of hard to tell in the pics. She seems to be stressed, but i think a few days and she should be fine. Can anyone explain what that brown sore-like spot on her leaf is?


One last thing, since this is my first grow, its exciting to see cannabis growing right in front of me, and i just thought id share (what i think is) a perfect leaf on my larger baby.

If they get to the wire and just need a bit more soil, cut the bottom out of the 2 liter carefully with a razor knife, and plant them deep in another pot with a few inches of soil underneath.. you wont raise em too far and have the benefit of some extra room in the final hour..

At least that is one of the things I have done with the 2 liters.. good luck~!

For something very simple but the roots will like it. It provides lots of airways and excellent drainage go 75%perlite 25% your common seedstarter mix. It'll also stay lightweight and with your cut out on the btm of the 2liter it'll b very easy to sit the 2ltr in the pot. It'll look cool too.

Ya.. I do it all the time.. all kinds of pots.. I don't have any photo's of a 2 liter handy. but here is an old photo of a 1 gallon I sunk into a 2 gallon pot about half way.. you get the idea.. just cut off that bottom and go. The plant never even knows it is being transplanted (so to speak).

regarding the topping i did on the smaller plant, it seems to be growing at the place i cut, maybe i didn't cut enough off?
or is it going to have new growth on each side of the cut? Im thoroughly confused.
