My current closet is

2" deep
7" wide
7 3/4" tall

Id like to keep them in the closet if possible but have an entire spare bedroom also. Just not the tent to keep them enclosed in the bedroom.

Are your cfls on their sides, where the most light is emmited?
Your temps are in the 80°s. Closer will raise heat.
Most heat is emmited from the tip of the bulbs.

Hey,
Lights are on their sides yeatster. I read that this is good for getting the most from a CFL.

I understand moving them closer will raise heat, what did you mean by that tho? please elaborate if you don't mind..

(currently looking at this T5 for the upgrade option)

I guess I should have quoted a comment.
Someone mentioned that they have their lights @ 2", which would be better, but I'm afraid it would get far too hot.

Carry on sir, great work!

Sorry that was the wrong one above that had a terrible review...

These are the two I am in between

This one is only 12' wide and still allows 8 bulbs which I like

  • 40,000 lumens - light output - powerful grow system
  • 95% Reflective German hammertone reflectors. 30% more light than comparable light systems
  • Outlet on fixture - Power 3 fixtures off one wall outlet - less clutter, more convenience
  • Same size as a 4ft x 4lamp light with double the bulbs
  • 2 switches on body - one for inner 4 bulbs, another for outer 4 bulbs

or this one here...

which will fit VERY snug in my closet at 27''

This sunblaze seems to be on the higher end...not sure if I want to spend $200 at the moment considering I still lack a few other materials..

Thanks Yeatster,

My plants were about 1.5" away up until two days ago...I am going to be transplanting them soon..I hope by moving the light up a couple of inches this week I can get a little stretch...which I will then transplant down further into there new home. (I am hoping with that extra stretch on the stem I get this week, once buried in their new home, will help with more root growth and benefit me in the long run..)

You waiting 7-10 days to transplant those right? Why light sooo close? You wrote a lot how old again?
Yes I am going to let them get strong in the current pot before transplanting...They are CFL they needed to be a little closer =)

Also half are day 15 since sprout the other half is 20 days since sprout...

Yes, I think I should have done this. My nodes are so stacked ATM.

Well I am not sure if what I'm doings any benefit. I can spot some looking like there on their 4th node right now.

So exciting! They are going to need more soil very soon!
I would have liked another cm or so between nodes and have a bit of a bigger plant, but then again there's more plant for the low intensity lighting to have to penetrate. Hmmm I dunno.

I agree with what you are saying.

I have kept the stretching down because my lights have been very close since sporut. Since I am going to be dropping them into a much larger bed of soul next transplant I'd like to get as much root system down deep. (Again this could be a mistake. I am a noob and first grow)

But since I have enough to play with I also will attempt some fimming/lst with a couple to practice for when I purchase a known strain in a few months.

These are all growing different. I see some with short fat leaves and some long skinny finger leaves.

Can't wait to see how different each one becomes tho!!

The low intensity light I know will affect things down the road. I plan to move to a higher quality. Not sure if that's going to be LED or HPS. Both will cost the same after all said and done. HPS wil require AC and vent work in the attic. LED won't so much for where I live.

I have 14 seedlings left. That's a lot of practice IMO. Next grow after this I will approach much better. :) hopefully

I'm considering for right now just purchasing an 8 tube 4ft T5. Which I will swap bulbs to warm at flower and also incorporate the lights j already have for more side lighting and what not.

If 420Prim doesn't mind, and gives the okay, you should toss a pic of your tightly noded lady.
I have one too, I could show.
Peace

Yea for sure, I am very new here and browse as much as possible to learn what I can on RIU. This is all for learning and I want to be able to source it down the road. So all shared progress as it relates to mine is helpful and beneficial.

Enjoyed reading this so far.
Also a newb, and in the plans of doing a 1st grow as well. But am not in any hurry. So I will continue my reading and research, along with notes. Lots of notes.

When you are ready, I suggest getting a journal going. If you run into problems it will be much easier for people to help, knowing what has been going on the whole show. Most times others will recognize a problem before it becomes an issue.

Peace

That would be wise. My mistakes are due to jumping in to soon when I should have waited. I am still not ready and have to research a lot. Each step Im at I have to read and double check. I have gotten a lot of the newest books that are out and they have helped a lot. I gather a lot from RIU. and www.growweedeasy.com,, best of luck to you!

Share some photos when you start, do not over water! lol
