JOURNAL UPDATES

*I WILL NOT BEGIN WITH DAY 1 UNTIL ALL MY EQUIPMENT GETS HERE (IN APPROX 4 BUSINESS DAYS). THE THREE SEEDLINGS GROWING NOW ARE JUST FOR TESTING PURPOSES. ONCE EVERYTHING ARRIVES I WILL BEGIN GROWING THREE ADDITIONAL SEEDLINGS*

03.06.11 - I've started three seeds in a damp paper towel in a humidity dome. I'll be moving them over into a pellet once they sprout.

03.07.11 - The seeds are bulbing up, but no sprout just yet.

03.08.11 - Placed seeds in the peat pellets for a few days.

03.12.11 - They've grown a few inches, nothing too major since there is no light source (the 400w cooltube kit hasn't arrived yet). Also, I had to move one of the seedlings to a bigger pot since its roots were expanding outside of the peat pellet mesh (?!).

03.12.11 - (18 hours later) One plant dead - I wanted to give them some lighting so I took a CFL I had lying around and placed it overhead. Turns out the CFL dropped over night and burnt the seedling's top off. No big deal, won't happen when my tent and lighting arrives. I've dropped an additional seed into a plastic cup with Light Warrior/Ocean Forest mix (50/50) just for testing purposes. I'll start three more seeds once my tent and HPS arrives and I think I'll stop there.

I finally got the tent today and I've set it up! My 2 existing seedlings are quite tall and as a result of inadequate lighting they have a hard time staying upright. Hopefully this will go away in a few days now that the HPS is on. I've also started germinating 3 more Swiss Cheese seeds to have a grand total of 5 growing.

I've also ordered a fan controller since my 424cfm fan is pretty loud and my tent only requires ~150cfm. Hopefully it works well!

*I've pushed the light down to about 10-12 inches and supported the seedlings with some bent paper clips*

Sorry for the lack of updates, it's pretty boring right now. Yesterday I planted two new seeds (I have another one germinating which should pop in 24 hours). I decided to use a 50/50 OF/LW soil mix instead of using a jiffy puck to see any differences. The two existing seedlings can now support themselves without the paper clips!
