Hello all. Let me start by saying this is a completely legal medical marijuana grow for personal use only. Alright, so this is my first attempt at growing. My what a lot a work its been up to now.
I started a batch of Maxi seeds by Grass-O-Matic and after an unfortunate event with my heating pad, all but one of my seeds perished. So I am starting a new round of beans with one Maxi about 3 weeks into a soil grow. Still might axe it for the needed lumens, but for now its fun to watch, and a sign of whats to come. The big focus is on the new seeds.
I purchased 9 Maxi seeds, and decided to also plant my 4 freebies from Attituede that i received from my first order. One, Sharksbreath, one Kandy Kush, one Cole Train, and one Rocklock. Once the Maxis are harvested within about 70 days, I plan to either switch the lights over to 12/12 and flower the freebies, or make clones and start another cycle. We shall see.
On to the setup:
6x6x6 basement room completely covered in mylar
600W Lumatek digital ballast
600W Lumatek high par bulb
Yield Master II Supreme 6"
6" inline fan w/ carbon filter
Keeping the room at a 18/6 light schedule. The room keeps at about 82f with the light on, and about 71f with the light off.
Day one - December 17
I Soaked rockwool cubes in PH adjusted water and planted seeds. Then I planted the seeds directly into the cubes. No paper towel or anything. Placed the tray on a heat pad in a dark room. Temps were right around 78f.
Most of my seeds sprouted on day four or five. Still a few that havnt popped. My non-auto flowers sprouted much faster and got much taller very quick. With these plants stretching so much, and with most of my seeds breaking the surface, I decided to place my tran in the room. This would go on the floor, with the heating pad for the roots. The HPS is on for the straggling Maxi that made it from my first attempt. but placed much higher off the ground. I assumed with the light being about 4-5' about the seedlings they should be fine.
Since I made this move however, growth has seemed to have slowed down. The plants that were pushing above the surface have seemed to almost stop, while the plants with a little more height are doing better. I have moved the Maxi that is established down to the tray to give my seedlings a little shade. Are these seedlings getting too much light? I have been watering the cubes with straight ph adjusted water. No nutes. Should I add? I will be using the Technaflora Recipe for Success kit for my hydro, so I do have this right now.
Any tips would be appreciated of couse, as this is my first grow. My biggest fear is that I will kill these things with kindness, so tell me if I need to lay off !
