First Grow - advice please

So I'd like to start my first grow and was considering the areoflo 18. Few questions- how easy are they to operate and manage? And can they operate inside a darkroom tent? Any other feedback would be greatly appreciated

For a first grow a would recommend a soil less medium like Pro-Mix, aeroponics isn't the easiest for a noob. :bigjoint:

Yea, aeroponics isn't the easiest thing in the world. I haven't even tried to step into that realm yet. I'd stick with soil for a first grow.

That's what I've heard. I'm pretty knowledgeable and have done a lot of reading. Would you recommend a different system?

^^ Good stuff. I've seen so many people buy those white lined pvc tents then come here complaining that their plants are dying or are mutated looking.

Ah so would you recommend building my own setup? I have a nice back room in my basement but only want to start off with a few plants. Can I always corner off a section with plywood?

It really depends on what you want to be doing in a few years. Do you want to be growing in the same space still or do you not see yourself growing? Honestly, if you're going to be doing this for a while, I suggest either buying a nice sized tent, light, filter the works or building a setup and doing the same, good light, filter, fan ect. You should start reading before you do anything though. Don't jump into something not knowing anything about it. You will get nothing but bad. Do you have a budget? Space size? Some more details would help.

Have a detailed guide I've been reading for months over and over again. My goal is to use the sog method to get a few quick but high yielding harvests, but I know you need clones for sog which is difficult for me to acquire.. My budges around 1200. What would you recommend I do

Idk about a sog, maybe just a few plants growing? It definitely is different when you actually run into your first problems, than when you're reading. If I were you I'd go for a tent. you can put it even in your bedroom ( unless you have some weird ass buzzing ballast :D )

Yes I'm using my bedroom but it's I'm the basement so noise won't be a factor. So you'd suggest starting off with maybe 4 plants using a soil less mix and then use clones from those once I decide to try sog?

Sounds good, and hotrod gave you an idea for a cheap, good sog.
I'm gonna do hempy sometime, when i man up :D

Just got back from the local hydro store. Guy was really helpful recommended a small tent and 400 watt two way ballest. Recommended starting with 4-6 plants think I'm gonna keep it simple and go soil

Are you in a legal state? Or the hydro store just knows everybody grows pot?:D
