FiRST GROW B0X.. MUCH HELP NEEdED.

i current have a box thats about 2'x2'x3'..i am going with the afghan females. i am only growing 2 at the current time in 2 seperate party cups. i have 2x-26watt CFLs. and a pc fan for ventalation. my temp sits around 78F. when the lights are on with 38% humidity.

My questions are: do i need more light or lumens that is? do i need to raise the humidity? i know that foil isnt good to line the walls. but beside mylar and white paint what would be a quick alternative so i can get the foil out asap?

p.s incase u couldnt already figure this out.. this is my first grow and i do consider myself a complete noob at this for now.. lol. so any advice on doing a simple cfl grow box for 1 or 2 plants would be much appreciated..

Ya I'd def. get more lights some 42 watters would help, you could use an emergency blanket you can get one at walmart in the camping section for 2 or 3 bucks and they reflect light good

yur right about the mylar n white paint other than that nothing else will do for vegging i use the day light cfls they have the bluish tint to them... yu should check out the diy section here they have all kinds of great info

Thanks for the advice.. as soon as i get out of work im gonna shoot over to the store and pick one of those blankets up.. i cant find anywhere around here that sells mylar..

yes yu can run both sets of lights.. mylar i went to wally world camping section yull find it there.. i use a surge protector and i but the plugs for $1 at wal mart and the y sockets from lowes that way yu can fit twice as many lights n a small space

check out the ghetto growers n the general growing section lots of creative ideas!

i deff wanted to run some y-sockets possibly 3 sets,, would that be a good? also the surge protector sounds like a good idea but i have my cfls on a timer as of now due to my busy schedule.. do they make surge protectors with timers?.. probably not.. lol..

no prob. I ran 4 26 watt 6500K bulbs for veg and 6 42 watt 2700K for flower and It turned out good, 3 foot tall and i got 40 grams dried off one plant. you can just plug ur timer in the wall and pluge your surge protector into the timer. juz try to get get at least 100 watts on each plant and you'll be fine

i got some white poster board for my box and it seems to be working pretty good and its only 80 cents a sheet. its a good way if your on a budget

no use 6500K daylight for veg. and use 2700K for flower

alright cool.. im gonna go to the store and see what other stuff i can collect.. i will probably end up with the poster board if i cant find the mylar in the camping section.. im not really on a budget.. i just gotta be a lil stealthy for now.. is there any other things u guys can think of? maybe some nutes or such?.. im only 3 days after planting the germinated seedlings.

Don't bother with nutes too early. Get some good soil to start with, that should hold you until you're ready to flower. You should know about 'NPK' ratios. N stands for Nitrogen, P for Phosphorus, and K for Potassium. At your current stage, they will need high 'N' to grow optimally. So look for something on the bag that looks like 15-2-2, or some similar ratio. Many people, includin myself, swear by Fox Farms Ocean Forest. It contains a lot of the good stuff for veg and is good on nutes for 30 days. You can use Miracle Gro to stay cheap or if you can't find Fox Farms Oceean Forest, I did my first time. But FFOF gives better results.

Make sure to get good ventilation to the plants! This is one of the hardest things to do while being stealthy, but we can help. What type of system do you have for ventilation right now? What are your plans for once the plants start to smell like bud? I ask this because you said you want to be stealthy.

You will want to add more lights once it is time to flower. How tall can you let the plant get and still be stealthy? This will determine when you have to flower, and change your light type from mostly 6500K to mostly 2700K and you will have to add several of lights to grow two plants, assuming they are both females.

I wish you good luck. If you answer most of these questions, you should get some good suggestions, maybe even from me if I am not too busy getting stoned and whatnot. I love a good stealth grow!

hey SB, nice to see another growing getting into it.....

about the lights... try to mix the spectrum a little.... try 80% 6500K and 20% 2700K for veg, and the opposite for flower... this will help your plant a little....

you probably know this, but keep those CFL's as close as possible without touching or burning them....

as for nutes.... anything with high N levels should be alright... but u dont need to use nutes for a few weeks anyway...

and you will need ventilation.... and if ur being stealthy that ventilation should have a carbon filter on it to stop everyone from smelling it...

any other questions feel free to ask.... i grow in hydro now, but soil is where i learnt eveything..

thanks dukes and masterd.. well lets see.. as of now i have 6 outlets for bulbs but i onmly have 4x 26watt cfl's in there.. i also have some 42watt cfls and some 20 watt cfls i can throw in there when the time is right.. i found the mylar that i needed in the camping section at the local wally world..

as far as soil goes.. i finally found a place that is 45 mins away that sells FoxFarm products.. so i went and bought a couple bags of the FFOF. the only nute that i have at the moment is the Schultz plant food that is high in Nitrogen.

Ventilation has become somewhat of an issue.. i got a 12V PC fan running constant thats helping ventilate some of the air back out. My temps sit from 78-84 normally when the lights are on. i bought a humidifier last night for $15 and it seems to have dropped the temp and raise the humidity up to about 42%.

i noticed i have the purple stems going on my plants.. i heard thats due to lack of nitrogen. If so what should i do to get these babies up and healthy again.

sounds alright, except for the fan... personally id get a better one.... but thats me....

yeah i think im gonna throw a fan inside.. does a 6inch fan sound like a good idea? i seen one last night i shoulda picked up..
