I'm so excited. :) DAY ONE.

Today 2 buddies and I ventured a couple of acres into my backyard woods and found a nice spot to to throw a few plants. The trees are open just enough to let am sun, midday, and a little evening sun. We've been hacking away at trees all day to open up a bigger sun canvas for my babies.

SOO, I planted 5 seeds from a good, sticky bag of high mids, each in a 16oz dixie cup with miracle gro moisture control soil. I have some high phosphate fertilizer standing by for the 3-4 week mark. And I'm still looking for a moisture meter, as I couldn't find one at my local walmart.

Anyways, I thought about waiting until they sprout to post, but I wanted to start this journal from day one. :)

Huh, I guess the dildo on a tutorial I found was totally wrong. Alright, oh well, I'll buy high N fert then, heh. Thanks!

If there outside, you dont need a moisture meter. Unless ur really worried about moisture. But what would u do about it in the woods? And also MG is alright for now. But its not as good for Flowering. It has Urea Nitrogen. Its a major component of piss. Thats why u should also never piss on your plants. But Urea can supposedly make your buds shrivel up and die. Lol, and noone wants that!

Well, I'm watering them...it doesn't rain very often here. So I'm going down to check them out everyday. That's why I need a moisture meter. And when it rains, I'll just lay off the water for a couple of days or so, depending on the downpour. :)

And thanks for the info on MG, I'll probably switch over to what I'm advised to when I transplant from the dixie cups!

BTW, I'll have pictures of my "setup" today. :cool:

BTW, looks like I'm gonna have to take pictures tomorrow, I forgot to grab my camera on the way down. :-|

Also, I noticed my plants will be receiving scattered sunlight. So many trees, it won't be a constant stream of light, and barely any sun will hit them around 3 or 4pm+.

Will this be okay?? Its hard in the woods, heh. And I watered them just now, so they are good and moist.

i think it will be fine, It might flower earlier like that, It cuts down the light cycle so it will get to 12/12 sooner

That's great news, thanks!

I'm a little worried about bugs now. I keep seeing these tiny little ant-spider looking things in the soil when I visit them. And two of the cups were knocked over a bit, as well.

I know some chicken wire fencing around the plants will kill the wild animal problem, but what about the bugs?

UPDATE! Day FOUR.

It seems like a couple might be stretching a bit, but I may be wrong. Also, one of the plants have a small bug bite...what should I do to rid bugs? Insecticide?

There's not much you can do on the stretching issue outside except put them in the best possible spot for sunlight exposure. You can always add some soil to the cups (up to the cotelydons) which might help some new roots grow.

As for bugs, I'm going to be struggling with the same thing with my grow being in the forest too. I'm either going to mix a weak solution of Ortho Max (1/3 of recommended dosage for vegetables to start), or just make some insecticidal soap. I'm leaning towards using the Ortho during vegging and the soap during flowering.

Yeah, I really dont think it will hurt them. Just make sure the insecticide is gentle enough before you start soaking it. Also, spraying a fine mist at night, or at least not in the direct sun, will help prevent burning. I wouldn't mind hearing other people's thoughts on insecticides...

Alright, we sprayed the plants with insecticide tonight, after we misted them with water. They've grown a noticeable amount today, and I'll be posting pictures hopefully tomorrow for the next update! :)
