Kind of disappointed that not many people like my grow journal, put quite a bit of effort into keeping this regularly updated. Like I said before, feel free to comment. There really is no point to having a grow journal online if no one is interested in your grow. It certainly does not give you the enjoyment a real journal does, it's less magical.
With that said, the plants are doing well. One of the bagseed had a skunky like stank when I took a whiff of it, it could of been the bat guano though. Never heard of a plant having a odor till flowering. None of the other bag seed had the odor. Mistake still have that curl too the initial leafs, though the new ones look fine. The little discoloration of the leaves on the stout fat plant have not disappeared from the first set of leaves, but do not seem to be continuing with the new growth. I think it was just a little bit of light bleaching to be honest, since I had them 24" under the MH just a couple days after they got true leaves.
Eventually I plan to make the switch to an LED array, and do away with my 400w baby. I see the downsides to the H.I.D., with that said I think one 90w ufo which I am ordering thursday is only strong enough for one or two plants if used alone. The reason I say this is because if you move the LED close to the foliage, and have it that close you are increasing the plants absorbtion, similar to how you can move a 400w closer and get better growth due to more light particles being absorbed. I can't seem to find any non forum based, non advertisement claims LED info. Much of what I have learned is due to reading KhyberKitsune on cannabis forums. Not to knock him he is doing great things with LED's, but he is extremely biased towards his own products yet does not advertise them. He seems to show disdain for Bridgelux diodes, cause they are cheaper. From what I have gathered others have had great success with these lights.
I won't make the full migration to L.E.D.'s for awhile now, probably going to start with picking up three more ufos within the next 6 months. One for a veg chamber, and the other two to drop into my 3x3 tent. Too run that setup would be much more efficient than a 400w HPS. 90wx4 = 360ws of energy with more output than a 400w, and possibly a 600w. From what I've read a 90w does not equal a 400w HPS or MH in flowering. That statement is true during vegetative though according to KhyberKitsune. The only problems with L.E.D.'s for me is the fact that in the winter my plants could freeze to death at the temperature I like to keep my house. So I would have to run the heat more, or give them a personal heater killing whatever efficiency I had gained from using L.E.D.'s.
It should be interesting both for me and everyone who reads this journal to see what a 400w MH, and a 90w UFO can accomplish in a 3x3 area. I would prefer to put my UFO all the way down, just close enough to cover all the plants in the LED light. It is less efficient at the height of an HID, since the penetration is not as good on the 120 degree angle that I am looking to purchase. I would like to get everyone some more statistics on L.E.D.'s and in a configuration affordable for most people. Most people cannot afford to drop 1000$ + on a high grade L.E.D. light just for the sake of saving power. H.I.D.'s are like the AK-47 of grow lights strong, get good results, and built to withstand the test of time. I'm hoping to persuade more people to start using LED combinations, instead of using big 1000w systems. To me anything above a 600w H.I.D. is a waste of electricity from what I have concluded through research. Just to let everyone know, I am not affiliated with any grow light company. This is not an advertisement or more hype for L.E.D.'s it's just a hypothesis at the moment. Only time will tell the end results.
P.S. Will get pictures up to everyone before I go to work.
