First Grow BP Advice Please

Sup, been reading this forum for around 3 months now gotten a ton of information and thought I would share my grow. I started it in soil in early august and soon decided it wasn't what i wanted so did some research and built my own DWC/Bubbleponics following the guides and wealth of knowledge on this forum.

So what I have is a 10gl Rubbermaid with 6 net pots only 5 used at the moment. Is a 12" airstone inside and i removed the waterpump a few weeks ago to drop res temps Been using ice bottles to keep them down even without the pump trying to keep a steady temp but it ranges from 68-75f after a 3 day trip it got up to 78f. For lighting im using a 200w flouro and 3 42w flouros but thats changing this week to a 600w HPS which i will air cool and adding a carbon filter/exhaust fan as well.

The seeds are bagseed as i said i started 4 of them in soil but got annoyed with it really quick wasnt enough control for me so i rinsed them and transplanted into my bp system didnt take long for 3 of them to take off and one to die I germed my last 2 seeds from that bag and they germed nice and quick and I got them going too. The 2 that i started later one has almost caught up to the rest and the other is still sitting around 7" and one of the soil ones is getting very large. Not sure what I should at this point. I have topped and trimmed and tried to keep the others smaller so the other one could catch up and it slowly is but I dont think its worth it anymore.

The PH hangs around 5.8-6.2 and the PPM is currently around 980 and i use GH flora series nutes.Attaching pics of the girls hopefully. For the pics the big one is 1 and to the left is 2 then 3 down is 4 then 5 in the middle. Any advice, suggestions, or critism would be great. Trying to figure this out before i try some good genetics.

Looking very good. How old are they now? When do you plan on flowering? I just started my first bubbleponics grow and I'm using bagseed as well so I can figure it all out before I grow some dank shit. Swing by my thread if you get the chance. Good luck, I'll be following.

I was planning on flowering when the runt had a little better stem system but its to the point where if they double in height during flowering I might run low on room. Debating starting this week they are all roughly 6 weeks old now. I think the runt is taking so long because the pipes to the water pump clogged because i forgot to rinse my hydroton and its line stopped working. Over the last week its gotten a ton of growth and root system is a lot better so not sure what to do. If it be better to just start flowering I will once i get my HPS and have my odor control in place it is already starting to smell up my upstairs a little bit so i imagine it will be pretty intense in flower.

Yeah make sure you keep the smell under control. I would say start flowering as soon as you have all the equipment necessary. You're right they will grow a lot during flowering so make sure you have enough room.

No signs of sex yet. Runt has been putting on more growth but thinking of yanking it out and putting in a 5 Gal bucket to go back to veg. Got all my new equipment in and trying to manage the canopy a lil bit tying down the bigger ones think im afraid to be to rough with them tho not really sure what to do. Starting to get cold here so temps at night getting to high 60s in the grow room and during the day low 80s is that ok?

Saw something weird yesterday the PH has always balanced around 5.8-6.3 im now replenishing a gallon or two a day, but yesterday i went in and it was 5.1 so im slowly bouncing it back up. using the transition formula to flower for the flora nova nutes.

Are you using PH balanced nutes? They could just be adjusting to the new nutes as well. When I switched nutes I had to pay alot more attention to ph especially when just replentishing. Thats why the SH nutes are so damn easy! Maybe one of the experts will chime in?

The GH nutes ive been running the whole time I just switched for the formula for transition to flowering phase. I just thought of something though I just switched out my airstone because my 12" one was falling apart i think i banged it a lil bit while i was doing res change. I put in a small 4" one for now.
The 4" one i used previously trying to get some clones to start (got some bad advice on how to do clones i think and had them sitting in a incubation tray with the stone producing air and a layer of water in there). But it had superthrive on it maybe thats whats doing it?

Well I had to cut out 2 males today. Luckily the big one is showing signs of female, guess that big one is always male theory don't really work, 3 more left.

I hope I cut the roots out right I took some clean scissors and just separated them from the root ball best i could. Will the rest fall out as i change res or what should i do? Any advice would be appreciated!

It's not a good idea to leave any dead roots in the res. I was told that you can cut up to half of the roots of a living plant and it won't be affected at all. My suggestion is get all the dead roots, even if that means cutting some live roots in the process.

really? that kinda freaks me out cutting that much mass off every single plant was all in one giant root ball not quite sure how i could only cut half. Pictures i posted a few days ago have roots in em. i was planning on changing res tomorrow ill cut em out then i guess.

Well don't do anything you don't want to. I'm sure if you keep the condition just right, nothing bad will happen. Just pull out the dead roots as they separate from the living ones. Honestly I don't think I would cut the roots either.

I did end up cutting my roots last night after finding some posts saying they can take a butchering and the plant can recover quickly. i decided why not and went ahead. I cut about half the root system out Probably got about 80% of the roots out but i couldnt justify continuing to chop at them to get the rest as they were tangled up in the higher portion of my big confirmed females roots. I noticed some yellowing today and a dead leaf or shriveled up leaf so I hope i didnt cause a disaster. I will post pics some time this weekend after a few days of recovery.

changed out my res today to get left over roots out that seperated in the water over the day. and set the ppm still in transition to flowering at 980ppm. Heres to hoping I didnt kill my female! I got 4 clones of her but who knows if they will root heh rather not buy quality genetics if i cant get bagseed to grow.

So i had to leave for a week came back to another male and a runty female. Decided to rip them both out and use my 6 site BP to put my four female clones in they seem to have rooted while i was away. My big female is still flowering I put her in a makeshift DWC made out of a cat litter container before i left shes loving it. Attached a few pics of her the clones are from her taken 2 weeks ago will get pics of them once I have them happy in their new room. I think this one female is big enough and has enough budsites to still put out a descent yield of my first homegrown :joint: see if i can keep her alive another 8 weeks or so!

Few more pics i started using GH Liquid KoolBloom yesterday. Have the Nutes set to full flowering and its at about 1200ppm. She is drinking a ton like a gallon a day. Finally noticing how well she topped with so many bud sites that are getting direct lighting. Not a new thing but im continuing to have fan leaves on the lower section of plant with some deficiency but it never effects new growth or around the bud sites. And my roots are bulging and near to breaking my net pot. Res smells clean but i noticed a spot on one root it doesnt feel slimy or anything tho. Plan to keep this updated till im done.

My clones are sitting in my 6 site BP and roots are popping thru the net pots all ready have not added nutes yet. Just water PH'd to 6.0. Not sure what i plan to do with them yet. I have some more 5 gallon buckets and thinking of putting each in its own DWC once roots hit water so i can avoid the tangling of roots again and they have room to be bushes like there mom. Still not decided the bubbler works great tho. Think I will add nutes soon and let them veg and top them at 8 inches or so. then flower once they recover and reach 12-18 inches. I think I am starting to get this hobby down and im feeling a lot more confident about spending money on seeds.
