ight ive post threads before and my first attempt at a grow was like 5 weeks ago and i tryed outdoor but to much stress came to it and squirells diggin it up so i tryed move it indoors but she failed so i started a new grow last tuesday and it like 6 days old now and still only 1/2 inch out soil.. in the blurry ass pic your going to see of it you can tell i overwatered it last night:wall:.

I got 4x23w(100w) daylight cfls going atm on 18/6 which i think is enough for now i got 2 more not set up cuz i dont have another splitter and like i said i think 4 is enough atm. You can see my fan i have it blows cool air out it can also blow out hot air to.

Id like to know if my setup is good enough and why it is my plant is still only 1/2 inch out soil at 6 days old i can see 2 new set leafs geting bigger and do you think i should put something around outside of my cup so light dont get to roots? umm if you see any other problems i would have or have let me know this plant looks really healthy nice green color to it. I really want to beable to get it to harvest later on and o ya i plan on flowering it at like the 5th or 6th node dont need it geting to big really growing it for personal smoke and might flip some to some ken idk depend how good i grow it. +reps be given to real good advice. i plan on making grow journal when its older and going somewhere other then that thanks for looking at my thread and giving me advice/help if you do.:bigjoint:

Are you waiting to water until the soil gets crusty? Any more and its too much water. Also I would say that fan is really not helping at this stage, and maybe hurting.

i wait till top soil is dry, and why would the fan not be helping? cuz if i dont need it to be on at this stage im happy with it less electricty used. Another question will my leafs that are really droopy go back to normal state and how can i help em to getting back to standing up normally.

One thing I would do is cut the top of that cup off. You can't get 4 cfls right in there and that edge is actually shading the seedling from light. You need more light and that is the first way to get it. cfls have to be close.

thanks smile always helping me out. what do you think bout cup color is it ok or should i put something darker around it for the roots?. and cut the cup just above the soil line?
Okay so i just cut the top off like 1 inch just above the soil line hope that helps it get more light, i still trying to figure out why my fan not helping at this stage. ill check back a little later back to Homework.

i got 2 cfls growing for one plant, i say just put it in a pot, get a desk lamp that has a shade or something and put it about an inch and a half away from the seedling and you should see amazing results,
i saw 4 inches of growth in less then 2 weeks when i first introduced my plant to a cfl bulb

I agree with the cutting the top of the cup down. Not only is it blocking light but if you remove the fan (which I DON'T recommend doing) then it will be trapping heat as well. Just lift up your cup every day. You will feel it get lighter and lighter until it is just about weightless. That is when you want to give more water, not any sooner. If you feel any weight in the cup that means the soil is still damp. I would say the primary causes I see for slow seedling growth on the forums are overwatering or too much heat. Make sure neither of those is happening and they should take off. You have plenty of light for now.

ight yea i cut the cup down shorty after he told me to, i kinda figured my fan was a must, and i think if anything for the seedling to be stunt growth out the 2 you gave me would be overwatering and i will use your style for watering now. plus my fan blows like cool air out and i keep my window open to let fresh air into my room and keep closet open so fan can catch some and blow it around. thanks for the help +rep on the water technique.

ya man i just used a simple 60 w bulb, put it in a desk lamp that actually clipped on the edge of my pot , or any desk lamp is fine, and i put the bulb up close to the plant and it just exploded in growth, as for the drooping of leaves, i actually had that problem the other day, i just dried the crap outta the soil and then started adding capfuls of water around the base of the plant and thats my watering

Yea just let her dry out a little and things should speed back up. The roots need air just as much as water so when you keep then constantly drenched they drown. I've been growing for quite a while now and I still use the pot lift test to determine when my plants need water. It's the simplest and easiest way. Best of luck.

thanks guys, and i dont think the lamp would work wit the cfl i got i only got a 23w (100w) daylight, i think it'll get more light from the 4 bulbs when i got a bigger cfl im going to try that though.

because with those lights its easy to put them to close, people say between an inch and 2 inches, i give it at least an inch more because ive noticed as my leaves come in, if they are too close to the light they fold straight down the middle of the leaf, almost like a hot dog, and they tend to do that until you move them away.

o okay good lookin, i got a question for you guys. i think im going to make pop can reflecters so them other 3 lights get to plant more, how would i make em? and how do i put em on. +rep for helping.

i would cut back on the lighting to 12/12 plants need darkness to finsh photosynthesis that they started during the day,,, your method of 18/6 can be casing stress on the leafs and cause them to drop add a thermomter to keep track of heat that may also be a problem... hope this helps

Alot of people use 18/6 but i do wish i started 12/12 from seed just cuz i dont plan on a big grow just want enough for me and a lil to flip. i dont think its a heat problem because it is like rarely ever hot if anything most hot its gotten just felt real warm to me so i say it stays like 70-75 degrees during lights on. but if anyone else agrees to switching to 12/12 cuz you think 18/6 is stressing my plant i will. still need advice on the pop can thing you can see my light set up on page one.
