First Grow - Criticism Wanted

Update:
I changed the res for a weekly change. Added Orca and Hydroguard along with Armor Si and GH nutrients. PPM's are 350-375. PH is between 5.7-6.2. Looking good so far....I noticed the plants are growing additonal leaves in a couple different places other than the top of the plant. They grew side leaves overnight. The stems are starting to look pretty substantial as well. In just a week they have doubled in size and seem to be growing faster each day.
OG Kush is still small but I will let it do its thing as long as it is healthy.

Feel free to post comments or concerns!

I am cool with that. I am seeing results.

So I found a guy on Craigslist who was selling three very nice EcoPLus 1/4 horse chiller. I got one for 175. Soaking in Physan because it had water sitting in it. I am going to hook it up Sunday. This will help ensure a juicy harvest.
There is no dust on the filters or the coils. Even the fan is clean. No signs of leakage. I think this was a good investment.WP_20180803_18_06_36_Pro.jpg

indeed. Nice find. Good luck looking good, plan ahead seems when things take off its easy to get behind

Well, take off they have. The first picture is from the third.

The fucking things doubled at least, in only three days. I took this picture an hour ago.

In case anybody is wondering, I am feeding them very very light on the nutes. Here is what I am going as far as nutrients
Tap Water - 70ppm
Armor Si - 1.75ml/gal
GH Trio, Equal Parts - 1.75ml/gal
Hydroguard and Orca 5ml/gal each
PPM is at 350-380 total. That is only 250ppm nutes.
PH is always 5.7-6.0 It moves around very little.

Update:

I topped them all last night and they just kept growing. I never even noticed any growth stopping from the trimming. Here is a comparison from just overnight. You can see the amount of growth just in 7 or 8 hours. Its already pushing out new growth.

Question for the Pro's : My nutrients are quite low. 100ppm base water plus 250ppm GH Trio nutes. SHOULD I leave the nutes alone. I mean the plants are telling me they are happy, best I can tell.
If it aint broke dont fix it right, but I am not sure if it works like that with Herb.

Nice set up I like how well you insulated the pails. I have a 8 site rdwc on my second run. I’d say u would be ok raising it up to at least 500 ppm. The highest I took mine in veg this go was 1050. FBE9A202-DD65-437E-AC74-2D49D6C71171.jpeg

This is the girls right now 3.5 weeks since the switch

Heck yeah, looking good. I am at about 400-450 right now. I had two cheap tds meters. I got a nice bluelab meter and it reads 50 ppm higher than the cheapies. I will post some new pics tonight when the light comes on.

Thanks!
Update
I have gotten a chiller and am keeping the water at 66-68. I did not have any rot problems before but the chiller was a great deal.
I changed my reservoir water and upped the nutrients about 70ppm. That made it around 425-475ppm depending on which meter I used. Minus the water which is 100 equals about 350ppm.
Two days later I am showing very, very slight browing/whitening of the very tips of the leaves. I drained and added two gallons of water which got my PPMs back to 350-400, where they were last week.
Growth has not stopped at all so I think I only very slighly overdid it.
I think the nutrient issue is something all people with RDWC run into when growing new plants. I plan on cloning these and if I am successful I will grow another batch so I can further tune the system and the strain.
I am also getting some very slight browing along the leaf edges. I dont know if is has to do with the nutrients or what but I will post a pic of it so I can keep track of it.
If anybody knows what this is feel free to chime in

Looking good overall

I don’t know much about the nutrients that you use. But advance nutrients ph perfect is what I’ve been using I was skeptical at first. But I haven’t touched the ph pen in my whole last grow. I did try mixing hydrozyme in and it shot the ph out of whack. I’m testing big bud this time around although I have nothing to compare it to because I have nothing to compare it to ran a different strain last round.

Also I know it’s not recommended but I’m getting away with res changes every 4 weeks cutting down on work and costs. Anyways I’m not a sales rep but it’s super easy for beginners like me.

Well earlier this website kept giving me errors when I tried to upload my pictures. Haha it uploaded them several times. Need to fix that.
I am just going to take a good whiff of the res each morning and when the smell changes I will change it. With the chiller, orca and hydroguard it really does not smell like anything right now.
I have been reading about that ph perfect but I have been so busy with other stuff besides the plants I have not really sat down and studied it.

Here is an update. I am trying to sort out a problem with the og. Other than that everything is looking ok. I fixed the heat stress problems and I think I am going to add a little bit of calmag in with my next res change.
WP_20180811_18_16_53_Pro.jpg

I added 2ml of calmag to the system. The bottle calls for 5ml/gal so that is a good starting point. My water from the tap was 80ppm now it is 150ppm starting.
I also started LST with the plants as I had topped them a week or two back. The stems are nice and flexible and they bent easily. I tied the four main stems down to the top of the buckets. In only an hour I can see all the empty space filling in. These plants grow really fast! I am thinking to switch to 12/12 at the end of this month. They are almost a foot tall now.

I am going to buy the Phillips Agro CMH flowering bulb before I switch. It only about 70 bucks and I think it will pay for itself in yeild, based on what I have seen.

Just for comparison, the first picture was taken Aug 3rd.

I mean call me a newb but to my eyes that is a hell of a lot of growth for ten days. I am certainly going to be able to switch them to flower at least a month earlier than I thought. Does this sound right to the pro's?

For anyone that wants to know, here is what has been in the res the last week.
Ph-5.6-5.8 and slowwwly rising
PPM's started at 350 (100ppm base) and have dropped to 320-330. Any more than 400 or so and it throws tips and does weird shit.
1.75ml/gal Armor Si
5ml/gal Hydroguard
5ml/gal Orca
1.75ml Gal - GH Flora Trio equal parts
PH Down to 5.6 (Around 1.75ml.gal for me)
Water Temp 66-69
