{Hello fellow members and viewers, I would like to start off with a big thank you to this website and forums and all the members willing to share there skills with others.thanks}

But to get started I recently had a small

closet grow with four seedlings two

moonshine and two blueberry/lemon hash

plant. They germinated and sprouted fine. it

was only until 2 weeks in I noticed they still

looked like they did at week 1. just the stem

grew thicker and slightly taller. Then the

bottom leaves started to brown and crisp.

They where only in a half cut solo cup so i

figured they needed a transplant. After

transplanting i saw the root system and at

the bottom of the cups where a thick coil of

roots. After the transplant there still has

been no growth. I researched and have came

to the conclusion they are rootbound. but

recently i found out the soil wasn't just

organic soil. It was organic miracle grow soil. (my friend brought it to me in its own bag)

So now i am wondering if the acidic soil

didn't let them grow. or where they rootbound?
..what do you think..These are the other factors in the equation...

6 light CFL 23w 3" away from babies
20/4 light on temp was around 82 F Lights off temp was 70 F
Miracle grow Organic soil
no added nutrients
2 fan in and out exhaust
Watered with purified water from giant eagle and let it sit a day prior to watering
dirt kept at a medium wet

I don't have a ph meter im waiting for the snow to clear to buy one..

i would love to hear your opinions on my question.

Secondly
for my next grow I have four feminized Blue Himalaya Diesel (autoflower) and one L.A Women and one RockLock (not sure if they are feminized) But This time my setup will be mostly the same.

6 light CFL 23w 3" away from babies
20/4 light on temp around 82 F Lights off temp 70 F
Organic soil from hydro store
start in solo cup
(would it be better to just start in galon pots?)
maybe inch of perlite (not sure what kind any suggestions?) in the bottom of my cups and pots.
(one small fan set up to gently blow heat pockets away. one fan on ground level blowing in cool air. do you think that will do it?)
(I own 16 2 3 nutes think it would be a good idea to use after 2-3 weeks?)
(I also own a 150w HPS do you think i should save that for flowering or would that be better to use week 2-3 till the end?)

:!:If you have any suggestions for tweaks or good ideas that im missing please fill me in. I'm aiming for a successful and informational grow, i appreciate all of your help. pictures on there way.

Hmm....my guess is that the soil had gone acidic(it can do that if it's wet, and in the bag for a long time), or that those strains were sensitive to the nutes in the soil. Some strains can handle that soil just fine, while others get burnt badly. I'd say to try some premium soil, keep everything else the same, and they should be fine. Also, mix some extra perlite into whatever soil you buy, and that'll protect you against overwatering, which may have contributed to your problem.(it's almost impossible to use too much perlite. I use about 15-20%) Being constantly moist, that MG soil will release more nutes than if you let it dry out some, between waterings. Make sure you PH the fert when it's time to feed, and you should be doing great.

One more thing...those CFLs are only 23 watts, even though they claim they're "100 watts equivalent". That's a comparison to incandescents, and irrelevant to growlighting. You have to go by actual wattage when it comes to grow lighting, of any type.

thank you, is there any chance on saving

maybe if i flush the soils now. (prolly to

late) yeah i will have to get new organic

dirt when the shop opens. i figured it was

acidic sense it doesn't even seem like they

grew enough to even get routbound.

(For the next grow)Any opinions on using my 150w hps before flowering? would there be a difference from the current cfl setup?

(For the next grow) would 16 2 3 be beneficial after 2-3 weeks?

and here are some pics, any one with any improvement ideas feel free to give them. or any more accurate conclusions for those babies illness's. sorry blurry

(the setup is actually 7 23w cfls just two are in ordinary lamps wasn't sure if that would effect its performance.)

(For the next grow) would 16 2 3 be beneficial after 2-3 weeks? or needed its fertilizer not liquid food

and is Miracle grow Organic still an acidic dirt even though its organic?

if any one could clear up any of these questions that would be tits.
-thanks
sorry for so many post in a row I just cant find out these answers and dont have a ph meter yet.

DO NOT USE MIRACLE GROW! It's the worst soil you can possibly get, you're better of going to your back yard with a shovel. Get a potting mix without nutrients added.
